What is this?

Asked by SIGNS_TT (128 points ) 3 months ago

Okay so last week I got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, around 2:00 AM. I went into the bathroom and I saw the tiles a couple centimeters above the ground. They had fire burning from underneath. I rubbed my eyes and looked again. I then ran into my mom’s room and woke her up. I told her to come look, and fast. She said what is it, and I said I couldn’t really explain it. She ran with me and we stood and looked in. I still saw the tiles the way I saw them when I ran to tell mom, still on fire and floating. She said what, and I said, don’t you see? The tiles! there on fire! she said no and I looked up at her confused, then looked back at the tiles. when she left, I happened to have the bravery to walk on them. Then when I began to exit the bathroom, they dissapeared and were normal tiles. The next night the same thing happened, except I didn’t wake my mom or dad and there were spikes on the tiles. Then the next night, there was blood all over the floor. I knew I was the only one seeing all this stuff. Here is what is different about the blood one: when I walked in there, blood stained my white socks. when I left, The blood dissapeard from my socks and the tiles. ALL of those happenings: 2:00 AM. I know it wasn’t lack of sleep, because I go to bed at 9:00 and wake up at 8:00. After those 3 nights, it never happened again.

You need to see a mental health specialist.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Are you sure you were fully awake. Sometimes if I’m really tired I’ll be awake but not coherent.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

I was fully awake.

bookish1's avatar

Hey, welcome to Fluther.
Do you know if your family has a history of mental illness?
Have you had hallucinations like this before, or have they just started recently?
I agree with @chyna that you should talk to your mom and ask her to find you a mental health specialist.

marinelife's avatar

You need to be evaluated by a mental health professional, How old are you? Late puberty can be the time for onset of mental illness.

Please take care of yourself.

bkcunningham's avatar

Are you using any sort of drug(s)?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Sorry poor manners. Welcome to fluther. We’re you taking any medicines or using any illicit substances?

simon1993's avatar

If it happened just after sleep maybe you were in the REM sleep stage. Seen as you only saw these hallucinations after waking up I wouldn’t think it was mental health issues.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

@bkcunningham No i am not using drugs, I don’t take pills, And I don’t use medicines in A
LONG time maybe like 6 months

marinelife's avatar

Well, you can rule some things out by going to your family doctor first.

bkcunningham's avatar

Would you mind saying what medicine you were on?

SIGNS_TT's avatar

MUCINEX, AND I HAD THAT LIKE 6 MONTHS AGO. @bkcunningham

simon1993's avatar

I’ve had experiences after waking up where I would see someone in my room, even crawling on the floor once. I would then quickly run out the room. It stopped when i was around 15.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

@bkcunningham And it was children’s mucinex.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

@simon1993 I heard a little girl talking in my room once, then I couldn’t move AT ALL

chyna's avatar

You have a history of strange dreams as in this question. I really think you need to talk to a therapist about these dreams. I’m not trying to be mean, but just thinking you need to find out why these dreams keep happening.

janbb's avatar

Yes, why don’t you start by talking to your regular doctor about it? S/he can refer you to a specialist if need be.

bkcunningham's avatar

What did your mother say after the incident with the tiles, @SIGNS_TT?

I would be very concerned and would start by taking you for a very thorough physical exam and go from there.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

@simon1993 I was fully awake

SIGNS_TT's avatar

@bkcunningham she said nothing at all about it.

bkcunningham's avatar

You are obviously concerned, @SIGNS_TT, or you wouldn’t be asking questions here on Fluther. Please, talk to her and explain that you need to get a very good physical examination. Tell the doctor who examines you everything you’ve told us. It could be a medical condition.

simon1993's avatar

Seen as both happenings were at the same time it could of been during the same sleep cycle, as for the girls voice it could of been from a TV somewhere near but to be honest I don’t know about that one.
My opinion is first talk to your parents about it and tell them your worries concerning it.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

@simon1993 okay so no one was awake that night when I was, no TVS or computers or anything were on.When I could move, I checked the house, but no one was up, no electronics on.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

@chyna this was not a dream.

simon1993's avatar

So were you trying to sleep?

SIGNS_TT's avatar

No, not really. I woke up about 30 minutes before that.

simon1993's avatar

Maybe you were going to sleep or fell asleep without realizing, its plausible.
I can see you need confirmation you are not going crazy so i would talk to a doctor and voice your concerns just to ease the worry but I really think its to do with being sleepy seen as it only has ever happened during times of sleep.
The times I have woken up and seen things seemed very real at the time and only later I thought it can’t of happend and I push it to the back of my mind.
Come to think of it a few months ago I woke up and I thought spiders were crawling towards me. I ran out of the room with my duvet and didnt go back for ten minutes scared out of my wits.
Com to think of it even more this happens quite often for me (every few months) one time recently I thought snakes were around me.

simon1993's avatar

It does seem very real at the time and because my experiences I knew couldn’t of happened I forgot about it and left it down to imagining them.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

okay and this happened one night, I think it means something. My aunt Andrea, who died, I got a dress of hers from her room. So I wore it one night to bed, and my dad said I was crawling on the floor listening to my Aunt Andrea’s favorite song: boats and birds At like midnight when he got up to get his 2nd dinner. My mom said once she was wearing a clothing of Andrea’s, I think a skirt, and she caught herself standing in my room just staring at me and my 2 brothers sleep.

simon1993's avatar

Once I saw something crawling on my floor (looked like a person) so I picked up my pillow and hit it a few times and ran out of my room to my parents room not returning for 30 mins. And like that experience of yours can be brought on by distress from a death in the family.

simon1993's avatar

It may seem crazy to someone who hasn’t experienced it but at the time its seems very vivid and real.

simon1993's avatar

http://blog.myzeo.com/the-peril-and-promise-of-sleep-paralysis/ Skip the paragraph about Sleep paralysis.
It explains some of what you experienced.

simon1993's avatar

The more I ponder this for you (and tbh for me) I really don’t think this is to do with any mental health issues and you should not to worry until it gets into day to day life.If you started hearing voices in your head or see things while going about your day to day business you should seek help. Other then that talk to your parents about it. I’ve come to accept I see things sometimes when I wake up, and it still scares me when it happens. (I’m 19 btw)

Judi's avatar

Also wondering if you had a fever. High fevers can also cause hallucinations.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

No high fevers on that day at all.

simon1993's avatar

I once had a fever ad was taking pain killers and I woke up to see my stepdad taking all the worlds money and storing it in my room, I actually got up and was talking to him (he wasn’t there of course) on that same occasion i thought my pet rat was a lab rat and was trying to escape and kill me.
These stories are true and i’m laughing at recounting them as I’ve never told people some of these memories.

simon1993's avatar

^I was like 13 at the time.

bkcunningham's avatar

Okay, I’ll bite. What is a second dinner?

Judi's avatar

@SIGNS_TT, I’m worried you might have early signs of schizophrenia. You really need to talk to someone to rule it out.

glacial's avatar

@Judi Funny, for some reason I’m thinking schizophrenia as well. Can’t think why.

SIGNS_TT's avatar

@bkcunningham A second dinner is when you get up to get more dinner later, and it is alot.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Schizophrenia is usually voices in your head. But anything is possible

simon1993's avatar

Looking at one of your past questions about a dream you woke up at 2 am then aswell, so your dream cycle is around the same time, backing up what I have said.

Arewethereyet's avatar

It sounds like you think this stuff is psychic or occult in nature, first thing though is to determine if it’s psychosis. Auditory, visual and olfactory hallucinations are all possible signs of psychosis, so have a consult with your doctor ASAP

simon1993's avatar

@Arewethereyet Seen as he has sleep related occurrence’s http://www.fluther.com/156862/what-does-this-dream-mean-help/ I still would suggest he has a vivid imagination and sleep related problems not mental health issues, but as I said before stop getting worried about it from people on the internet filling your head with ideas of being mentally unstable and talk to your parents and or doctor in private.

simon1993's avatar

Last bit was for @SIGNS_TT ^ to resolve any confusion :)

Spooky shit man! Same kind of stuff happened to me as a teenager. Weird weird crap just like that. I can’t touch drugs either, because it flips my lid way to harsh. When others are chillin’, I’m just spillin’. No drugs because reality is already a trip.

I heard the voices too. Still do sometimes, to tell the truth. Out of nowhere, someone says something as clear as day… but nobody is there, and no chance of it being carry over from another source. I don’t let it bother me any more. Used to bother me bad. Doesn’t happen nearly as much as it did when I was a teen. Only happens now if I’m really really really tired and overworked.

But other stuff happens now, that can’t be spoken of. No one would believe it. So why bother telling? The way I figure, it’s not for anyone else. It’s for me alone, and it’s harmless.

But as a teen, I had some horrific visions that caused panic enough to hit the emergency room a few times. Caused heart rate to jump and lots of sweating too. Nobody took me seriously and nobody could figure anything out… until one day…

… lying in the hospital bed recovering from a terrible waking vision (entire world made of flat toothpicks burning everything in massive inferno), a new doctor visited me. He looked to be from India, and was very old, with a stern face. He closed his eyes and put his hand over my forehead for about 30 seconds. Then slowly, his hand went down to the base of my throat, and he started to massage the side muscles of my throat. He dug his fingers deep into my throat. It hurt, and he wiggled his fingers very hard and deep. As much as it hurt, I became calm. Before I knew it, I felt completely normal and relaxed.

He told me to massage my throat just like that whenever I felt a panic attack, or a vision coming on. He said not to worry about anything. He said I had an extremely overactive thyroid, and massaging it would bring calmness and reality back. It did, and it does. It even helps with my terrible migraine headaches.

That doctor left, without giving his name. My regular doctor saw me shortly after, and I told him that another doctor had cured me. He wanted to know who, and how. I had no name to give him, and none of the doctor or nurses recognized the description of the old Indian man. I never saw him again, and the staff had no idea who I was referring to. It was then confirmed that I’m allergic to iodine. I have to watch the foods I eat, and inform any medical professional of my allergen. I am not on thyroid medication. The deep massage is all I need.

All I know is the problem went away, the horror. The visions are not scary any more. But they have turned into something else. Something very special. And I’m glad I have them.

nofurbelowsbatgirl's avatar

This is either mental health issues or something else and that something else could be worse and it may not be worse. As I have said before in your other questions which are related to this, YOU NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR, THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO RULE ANYTHING OUT!!

simon1993's avatar

@nofurbelowsbatgirl People who have never experienced this would jump straight to saying its mental health issues.

RealEyesRealizeRealLies's avatar

@SIGNS_TT “A second dinner is when you get up to get more dinner later, and it is alot.”

Yes… Gorging is the best way to induce the visions. That’s what I do when I want them.

Fight the urge for that to be habit. It is not good for your health to gorge on a regular basis. Eat more fruit, veggies… Exhibit some discipline. That’s a tough thing to do. But break that gorging habit asap. Gorging can also be a depression masking habit. Like a drug… stop it and move from being a teenager without discipline, to an adult that values discipline. Everything is possible with discipline.

Walk, exercise, drink lots of water… get off the soda. Develop routines that you can build a predictable life foundation upon. You may find that the horrible visions, with discipline, turn out to be something wonderful.

I bet you’d make a great artist, or writer… even a brilliant mathematician.

Hi @simon it may be that others have had these types of experiences, and feel qualified as such to input to signs TT.
