this site is so hard to use you are always having to edit the questions

I have had to edit questions too but that does not make it, or mean it, is hard to use; just that there is a certain level of proficiency or aptitude required. You just correct your questions and move on.
And the OP has flown the coop. I guess capitalizing and using periods is just too difficult for some people.
The site has got some bit of high standards to it, and frankly, I find that some of it is pretty upitty princess style. Thing is, I never got problems with the requisites much. It’s damn easy to go with, although I guess the point remains, it isn’t for everyone.

It seems a lot of people are constantly having to edit their questions. I don’t think I’ve ever had to edit a question here, and I’ve never been modded for spelling/grammar.
Is it that people aren’t re-reading their questions before they post it and, as a result, they’re leaving typos inside? I wonder what the most common type of error is.
I think there should be an alternate Fluther website/universe for idiots people who only know txtspk people who refuse to adapt to rules of private sites other people who aren’t amphibious.
“I wonder what the most common type of error is” livelaughlove21 that is a great question, that you should ask.
Welcome to Fluther. One of the things that makes Fluther different—and we think better—although it does take some getting used to is that the standards for questions and the writing standards are quite high.
Be patient. Use a browser with a spell checker build in like Firefox. Read the Guidelines first and maybe lurk before you post questions for a little while to get the hang of things.
If you persist, you will like it better. I promise.

Correction: built not build.
There’s something inherently hard about working together harmoniously in a social setting. If you define “easy” as everybody does whatever they feel like and it just works, then I can’t think of any social setting where that’s the reality. Whenever a community is involved, there has to be some mutual understanding of how things will be done to make things go smoothly. None of this comes without some effort.
It can be made unnecessarily hard if the guidelines are not made explicit, or if there’s no gentle correction mechanism in place, but that’s not the case here. I think it’s pretty amazing that the mods will actually hold a user’s hand through the process of getting a question in line with the guidelines. I don’t know why users so reflexively see the editing process as a smack-down instead of a generous effort to coach them in good Fluther citizenship.
@rojo Heh, well what can I say? ;)
As Tom Hanks said to Matt Damon at the end of Pvt.Ryan, “earn this…” & then he died, which is quite ironic when you think about it.
Oh @ucme, sometimes I think your comments fall pretty far from the mark, but every once in a while they hit dead centre.
@glacial I’m more than happy with my “batting average” since I moved here from the little league…mvp :-)

I don’t think it is especially hard to use. One great thing about Fluther is that it always looks very professional and “well kept” so to speak. The reason for this is the writing standards. We aren’t really looking for anything more than proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. We’ve all been taught how to do these things correctly, so posting on Fluther is a chance to brush up on those skills! After you have written a question, a quick review looking for typos is really all one needs to keep from having their questions sent back for editing or their responses moderated.
I think the professional look of Fluther puts us a step above other Q&A sites and I like that! I am proud to be a part of a site that maintains such high standards. It makes all of us jellies look good!
Maybe you’re stupid or something.
Welcome to Fluther.
@bob_ hahaha, good one, I concur.
