What is your experience with binge TV watching?

Asked by Gabby101 (2950points) May 12th, 2013

What series have you binged watched (watched an entire season in one weekend, e.g.)? Do you think it enhances or degrades your experience? Any negative consequences (other than wasted time)?

I recently binged on Upstairs Downstairs (first the old and then the new version) and as with previous binges, afterward felt like I had developed an unhealthy attachment to the characters and their “life.” I mourned the end of the series and relationship with the characters for more than a week! I love the depth I get from watching the episodes back to back, but am afraid the obsessive part of me means I should just say “no.”

A few times I’ve watched an entire series, several seasons, in a weekend, just because they are so good.

I just cant watch that much! I enjoy TV, but just can’t sit there for hours straight and watch it.

It’s the bestest. No waiting.

I binge-watched both versions of “House of Cards.”

I love to binge watch Mad Men. Last year while I was nursing a theatre hangover, I watched the first four seasons in five days.

I’m not too concerned about my watching, though. I’ve been mostly off TV for a while now, and I find the vast majority of shows totally boring.

I think binge watching is unhealthy for mind and body.

But hey I have done it. I try to make it a point not too. It feels like a wasted day. I will snack to much headache eyes hurt and can’t sleep. Not to mention what I missed out on not having something to watch later and feeling slightly dumber.

I also appreciate the show less for all the instant gratification. But when your sick broke and its freezing outside it is the easiest thing to do.

I do it every once in awhile. The most recent was when Comcast on Demand showed several seasons of Dr. Who, I watched them all over several days, not all at once.

I liked this method, because I get very confused when watching them spread out over a week or so.
