Not that I know of.

My wife & daughter are watching it now, what the fuck is that weird woman singing about wheelie bins for!?!
Trust me yanks, you’re not missing a thing…Graham Norton’s funny though.

No, not in the States.

USA says USA is number 1, so I doubt they would ever be interested in a program about other countries voting for who the best country is, while playing mediocre music.

Damn, it’s on tonight here but I can’t record it. Eurovision is so bad, it’s good.

Never even heard of it, but I’ll look it up

@ucme At least we didn’t come last this year!!!

Bellatrix's avatar

Bet you liked Belarus @ucme. Finland’s fuck you song was a bit much.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNER!

ucme's avatar

@Leanne1986 Yeah, we’re an island off mainland europe & so are considered outsiders…that makes me happy.
@Bellatrix I only caught a couple of songs & the voting so couldn’t comment on either of those, if the Belarus song was performed by pretty/sexy girls then you’re probably correct in your assertion.

Remember when it was still called “Le Grand-Prix Eurovision de la Chanson EuropĂ©enne”?
Times were better then.

ucme's avatar

Jeux sans frontieres or It’s a knockout, was way better, crappy little games in crappy costumes but boat loads of laughs.

tups's avatar

@ragingloli @ucme C’mon, it’s a nice little European gathering.

mattbrowne's avatar

It’s obviously popular in Australia.

ucme's avatar

@tups So was the second world war ~

tups's avatar

@ucme Yes, but this gathering is without the intervention of USA ~ Just admit you loved the winner song. ;)

Eurovision, a dog whistle only gay people can hear.
I admit nothing…except for watching the voting & only then for the lulz.

Bellatrix's avatar

@mattbrowne, I don’t think it’s popular in Australia because we love the music and performances. I think it’s more a ‘cult’ following based on the hilarity it induces.

After watching last night I think Romania was robbed. He had the performance, the costume the gothic essence and a wild falsetto.

US here. Eurovision never cropped up on my radar until I formed a relationship with an English bloke. Even then, it was only because his younger sister and her children are obsessed with it. After watching several years’ worth of the Eurvision’s finals on YouTube, it is understandable why the craze never caught on in the US. I’ll leave it at that.

@Bellatrix – I actually wasn’t aware of the popularity in Australia, but Petra Mede who facilitated this year’s show mentioned it. She even should a picture of an Australian family’s living room at 5 in the morning.

I think that was a spoof @mattbrowne. I think she was having a joke. I did see the segment you’re talking about. Although there may be people who watch it live. It was televised here long after the real voting ended. I’m not sure if it was on earlier in the day.

mattbrowne's avatar

@Bellatrix – I see. I don’t like watching the voting part. Part of it isn’t objective. It depends on ethnic groups living in neighboring countries making phone calls. But to become a winner, more than just that is needed.

tups's avatar

@mattbrowne I agree with you that neighbors often help when it comes to voting. This year, though, it wasn’t Norway nor Sweden that gave Denmark the big points.

mattbrowne's avatar

That’s right, @tups and I’m glad. They deserved to win.

@mattbrowne Thank you very much!
