What are good sources of foreign language books online?

Asked by fundevogel (15506points) June 8th, 2013

I started studying Norwegian (yay!) but I’m having trouble finding written materials. I think I could eat the shipping from Norway, but I can’t find a good online bookstore there that ships abroad.

So, know any good places to find foreign language books? Print, ebooks and audiobooks are all helpful.

When you wrote “foreign language books,” do you mean like stories/literature or do you mean like books that teach you the language? Or both?

I’m mainly interested in books in foreign languages, but I am having a pretty hard time finding a good English-Norwegian/Norsk-Engelsk dictionary. It doesn’t really help that I’d prefer one in Nynorsk.

I thought of the Norwegian version of Kindle but they only seem to have 16 titles. Try searching the Norwegian Google for elektroniske bøker gratis or something similar.

Thanks! I’m bookmarking this for future reference. Norli hasn’t got it’s international system online since redoing their website, but I’m talking with them and it sounds like they’ll probably be able to make a special order for that pesky Nynorsk dictionary I can’t find outside their kingdom.

Most large cities will have at least one foreign language bookstore. If you can find one near you, they might have relevant books in stock, or recommendations to offer.
