Is your fear and anxiety and/or depression essentially brought on by something specific?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) June 29th, 2013

Deep down inside is it due to financial, family, health, job issues?

What brings it on?

Wife is dying, so yeah it bums me out too much.

Yes. My anxiety is mostly related to the stress involved with my ex-husband’s constant harassing me and when it comes time for my annual well woman exam. For that I stress out for a solid month before.

Mainly triggered by abandonment (is it “issues” if you really have been dumped?) and the fears around having to cope with life alone.

It’s not so bad anymore but health issues resulted in a lack of trust in my body and the quality of tomorrow. I have been able to regain a lot of that, fortunately.

Waiting, doing diploma exams. I was once having a panic attack during my university economics exam. The professor gave me the answers I didn’t understand what he was doing. I was so out of it that the professor couldn’t even just give me the answers. later I ran out of the gym where I was doing the exam and ordered an emergency pizza and went to sleep in the shower.

I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life. The depression most often appears out of nowhere, for no discernible reason, while the anxiety sometimes has a cause and sometimes doesn’t. I generally have low-level anxiety at all times with panic attacks brought on by specific triggers, but I’ve had my share of panic attacks for no reason at all, too. Bad brain chemistry, basically. This is why I’ll be on medication for the rest of my life.

When I was a teen the depression felt out of nowhere, but now I see it was mostly due to being lonely. Now when I get depressed it is usually fairly short lived and the reason is usually easily identified. My anxiety usually stems from feeling a loss of control. I also feel anxious after doing a lot of physical things during the day. That is a new thing since I developed muscle troubles.
