Will this video show as 720p or 1080p on youtube?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) July 2nd, 2013

So, I have a new 22 inch monitor, and the resolution is 1680×1050, my question is, what will YouTube do with this? Will it downsize it to 720p, will it just call it 1080p even though it’s a tad below? Hopefully it just called it 1080p, I don’t feel like re-rendering my footage

YouTube video quality is a joke. They shouldn’t even claim their videos are 1080p because none of them are.

@flip86 Agreed, and they don’t support surround sound.

Aside from that I just want to make sure that it won’t squish it down or something like that.

Maybe 1080p with black bars at either side.

Anyway, just upload a 5second test clip and see what it does.

@ragingloli Ah, good idea, didn’t even think of that lol.

Well it marks it as 720p and seems to have taken some of the quality out. I’ve leave it a while to process but I think just making it 1080[p and having some thin bars will be better.
