What would happen if you shaved off/cut out your belly button?

Asked by Obscurethinktank (135points) July 11th, 2013

I’ve been thinking, and I’ve come to the conclusion that if I cut out my belly button, I would slowly bleed out due to a massive amount of stomach acid in my system. is that true, and if not, what would happen?

You could not be born again, since there would be no place for the umbilical cord to attach,

Alfred Hitchcock had stomach surgery, and his belly button was removed.
So, I suppose it depends on your skill with a knife, needle, and thread.

You’d be taken off to the nearest naval base for questioning.

Your belly button is not attached to your stomach. Your belly button is a scar at the attachment site of your umbilical cord while in utero. Cutting it out will result in a(nother) scar.

Your “stomach” organ is not near your belly button, it is up sort of center left behind your chest and left breast. Tummy tuck surgery the doctor remakes a belly button. Many laproscopic surgeries the doctor goes through the belly button. The belly button isn’t really attached to anything when you are an adult I don’t think. I wouldn’t try to cut out your belly button on your own though, it will definitely bleed, and it would be mutilating yourself.

I’m not a doctor.

Probably just be another stupid patient story in the E.R.

I think the bigger question here is why would you want to? lol

I can’t stand anybody even touching my belly button. How weird am I??

I have often thought that if I were to have any kind of cosmetic surgery or body modification, the elimination of the navel would be the way I go. I would even go to the point of having hair transplants done so there was just a continuous, smooth (albeit hairy) stomach.

I also wonder if you did so, and were without a shirt, would people look at you and know something was not right but not really be aware of what it is?

After your immediate trip to the E.R., you’d be committed for psychiatric evaluation.

You can have an omphaloplasty, but the surgeon needs to have special training at the Navel Academy.

You will have a bigger lint trap and it will start to devour your underwear.
