Well what sort of goals are we talking about? Scoring a goal for the first time at soccer or finally getting around to cleaning the fridge? Getting a place in your city’s orchestra or handing in their assignment on time?

You are an emotional guy. If it’s the goal and the orchestra place, there is nothing wrong with that. I think it’s actually quite lovely that you care so much about those close to you.

If it’s the fridge and the assignment, well, yes a bit over the top there. :-)

You might be feeling like everyone is passing you and you aren’t getting anywhere. You don’t have to please anyone but yourself though, and being happy for other people during your race to success will help you get places much faster.

Have you set some goals for yourself?? I set goals for myself all the time, some are long term and others are short term so that I can see I am making steps towards the long term goals. Maybe you wouldn’t feel so bad when others are acheiving their goals if you reach some of your own.

You might be either feeling like you are failing. When others around you are succeding, you do feel a bit jealous and sad. Especially because they completed something when you haven’t. But don’t feel sad. You’ll accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Hmm, it’s not so much a sad feeling actually, quite the opposite really.

Great question. Pretty weird, but nobody is hurt by it, so I would not worry about it.

That’s what I read from your post @_Whitetigress. That you become emotional at their success? I always tear up when I have to go and watch my kids do pretty much anything. When they were in the choir, or the orchestra, or did well in sport. The tap would turn on.

Nothing wrong with being caring @_Whitetigress.

Probably because happy tears and sad tears come from overwhelming emotions. Like when people cry at a wedding.
I’ve listened to really beautiful music that has bought me to tears or a singer with a equally beautiful voice.
