Is this Disney propaganda cartoon any less brainwashing than the brainwashing it attempts to reveal?

Disney Propaganda Cartoon

Specifically, and frighteningly, look to time code 9:30 towards the very end. Could not the same accusatory words said of Nazi soldiers be applied to our own American soldiers today?
________

“He sees no more than what the party wants him to. He says nothing but what the party wants him to say. And he does nothing but what the party wants him to do. And so he marches on, with his millions of comrades, trampling on the rights of others. For now his education is complete. His education for death.”
________

Aside from the blatant propaganda hypocrisy for its time, does it not eerily resonate with our world today?

Maybe, I don’t know…but if so, the Nazis weren’t even trying to hide the fact that they were assholes, so even if the propaganda is exaggerated, I assume a cartoon like that might have slightly helped people to at least come to terms with how ghastly shit can get. People want explanations and means to understand. Not sure if this cartoon did it, but they tried, I suppose?

I don’t know enough about WWII history or the Nazi party to give an educated answer. But they were pricks, I’m pretty sure this cannot be denied. As for today’s military and political parties…well I know a few people who serve in the military, they just seem like normal people to me, and one of them, a real party animal, is actually a lot more liberal than conservative.

Interesting cartoon though, I didn’t know Disney did stuff like that…I’m aware that they weren’t always the kid friendly company that we all grew up with, but this was surprising. Also, Germany is a fat Viking chick. That’s awesome. :D

I like the points you make @Symbeline. You’re right, there isn’t much argument that Nazi’s were assholes. Most German folk would probably even agree with you.

But consider that is our perspective currently. Back then in his homeland, the Nazi was loved by his mother just as much as US mothers love their sons serving now. Back then in his homeland, the Nazi was thought to be on a great mission to save the world. Not so different to how US citizens are trained to view our own soldiers now.

But I assure you, after abu ghraib, and wiki leaks exposing US troops killing civilians, and rampant American Imperialism, I’m not sure the rest of the world looks upon US troops as the noble defenders of freedom and justice that we are brainwashed into believing they are in the States.

Fifty years from now, will the US troops be looked upon as the modern incarnation of Nazi assholes? I hope not. Surely the testimony of those like John Michael Turner, Bradley Manning and many others like them would suggest there is much going on that we wouldn’t be so proud of.

Yeah, I know. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but I have heard that the US military do horrible things to people when they go out in other countries. Thing with that is, some of those people do horrible things to their own people, so the US military will never look as bad as the Nazis. I’m not saying the cruelty is justified here, please don’t get me wrong. Just saying, the contrast really eclipses the issue. I guess there seems to be a difference when you do something shitty to someone out there, as opposed to your own people. (Hitler included, of course)
But you’re right, Hitler did what he thought was best, and apparently those who followed him thought the same. How anyone could think that was right I do not know, but you have a point…still, the US military has not gone all haywire like Hitler did. Or not that I know of, so I suppose the intent will always outweigh the method, at least until the method gets too hardcore. Hell, there was even psychological treatment for some Nazis who couldn’t handle the shit they were ordered to do, you know?
But yeah, I really hope that in 40 years from now, Pixxar won’t be making cartoons about North American military and political actions. :/ but maybe they already deserve a cartoon
