I turn to Coke and burgers, in and air conditioned room on a big comfy couch…

Tomato soup and peanut butter sandwich.

Chocolate.

jonsblond's avatar

Ice cream. Lots of it.

WestRiverrat's avatar

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, peas and a salad, with a big slice of fresh peach or apple cobbler.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Usually something with high fat and sodium content. Cheeseburgers, chocolate, fried foods, Chinese food… I’m bad.

zenvelo's avatar

Since I have been worried about my health: a stalk of celery with organic almond butter.

Love is the best comfort food. And if you have no one to love, love yourself.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Dry Roasted Peanuts . . . but not too many.

Aster's avatar

snak ramen; buttered popcorn; guacamole and chips—all in bed after a hot shower watching tv. lol No; I don’t mean all of them at once.

gailcalled's avatar

MIlo here: Mouse ears or a snippet of Gail’s arm.

TinyChi's avatar

Sunflower or pumpkin seeds.
I just eat the whole bag and my lips get wicked dry from all the salt and stuff.

marinelife's avatar

I would turn to macaroni and cheese, but I don’t eat many carbs now and never simple carbs.

Katniss's avatar

Chocolate, please.

Pachy's avatar

I have several faves. Mac and cheese. Hot dogs. Grilled cheese sandwich. Deviled ham or pimento cheese sandwich. BBQ ribs.

jonsblond's avatar

I have another

A bag of Hershey’s miniatures. I get all the Special Dark.

JLeslie's avatar

I have a few.

Linguine with sauce, mushrooms and melted mozzerella, or if I really cheat I eat is with meat sauce no mushrooms.

Chocolate something.

Coca cola. Love love love it. But, then I regret it the next day usually.

^^^Too subtle. Be more specific.

rockfan's avatar

Sweet potato. But I always have it with greek yogurt instead of sour cream

Seaofclouds's avatar

Mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, ice cream, and chocolate… not all at once or in any particular order. Which one really depends on the mood I’m in.

bkcunningham's avatar

Junior mints.

El_Cadejo's avatar

Pho.

I could be having the worst day ever or just feeling generally under the weather. Put a bowl of pho in front of me and suddenly things seem a lot better.

I could really go for some pho right now…

johnpowell's avatar

@bkcunningham :: Junior mints are 1000 times better frozen. I assume you already know this.

bkcunningham's avatar

And also dropped into buttery popcorn, @johnpowell.

augustlan's avatar

It depends, but it’s all unhealthy. Some kind of deep fried food is usually my first choice, but it could also be mac & cheese, grilled cheese sandwich, cheese and crackers with pepperoni, sometimes Fritos and dip. Pretty much always followed by some kind of candy bar.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@augustlan A white chocolate candy bar? ;) And some good mac & cheese is also a great comfort food!

augustlan's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate I’ll eat either white or milk chocolate now, as long as there are crunchy bits in it!

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Oreo bars…. mmmmmm.

augustlan's avatar

Now I’m starving.

DaphneT's avatar

Comfort food: macaroni and cheese, chewy brownies with chocolate frosting, chicken quesodilla from Tbell with MDew BajaBlast, rich hot chocolate on a cold November day, any bag of chips that is available, large bowl of watermelon on a hot August night. Depends on what’s available, where I am.

JLeslie's avatar

White chocolate is not chocolate.

augustlan's avatar

Yeah, I know. It’s still delicious. :p

Also: McDonald’s cheeseburger, french fries, and a vanilla shake.

janbb's avatar

Potato chips
Turtles
Ice cream
Cheeseburgers
Good fries

But I rarely binge.

Supacase's avatar

Something carby. Cookies, pasta, bread, pastry.

@JLeslie. ‘White chocolate’ is an honorary member of the chocolate family. Yum

talljasperman's avatar

Lemon squares are my favorite comfort food.

Paradox25's avatar

Pizza and ice cream.

Rarebear's avatar

Scotch or bourbon over ice.

gailcalled's avatar

^^—-Eaten with a knife and fork or chopsticks?—

ZEPHYRA's avatar

Sweet stuff or starch-filled and believe me, in the end it turns out to be anything but comfort!

ucme's avatar

Nowt, I don’t require food to feel comforted, just sex & the soothing tones of a turtle dove.

Haleth's avatar

A really nice baguette with a little brie baked on top and green salad on the side. Or just good bread dipped in olive oil.

Carbs make me sleepy, so I can’t eat them during the day. This is my end-of-day relaxation food.

cookieman's avatar

@ucme: How about a deep-fried turtle dove?

ucme's avatar

Nah, bad for your health, maybe grilled though.

KNOWITALL's avatar

Fried chicken and mashed potatoes, ultimate in greasy carby fatty pleasure.

WestRiverrat's avatar

@ucme and @cookieman thanks for jogging my memory. Got the last of my dove breasts out and plan to make dove stroganoff for supper tomorrow.

Kardamom's avatar

Cheese quesadillas, bean burritos, cheese pizza, hot and sour soup, pistachios, brownies, Kraft macaroni and cheese, PB&J sandwich, Grapenuts cereal, Raisin Bran cereal, buttered toast, non fat strawberry Greek yogurt, and milk.

cookieman's avatar

@WestRiverrat: Aww, it’s like eating a piece of peace.

augustlan's avatar

Last night, I came home to my husband’s homemade chicken soup with egg noodles. Since he’d boiled the chicken with the skin on, he made me “cracklins” with the chicken skin! Holy moly, people. New favorite comfort food combo!

gailcalled's avatar

@augustlan: We Jews have been doing this for 5000 years. Waste not, want not.The Yiddish word is gribenes and must be made with rendered chicken fat, callled schmaltz

augustlan's avatar

Why did no one in the Jewish side of my family ever serve that on Passover? So freaking delicious.

gailcalled's avatar

I guess because it is not part of the traditional seder, which uses predominantly food fraught with symbolism. That chopped nuts and apples and grape juice mush, for example, represents the mortar used to lay the bricks during the Jews’ enslavement in Egypt, or so it was told.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@augustlan I don’t know what cracklins are, but you’re making my mouth water for them…

augustlan's avatar

@gailcalled In addition to the symbolic foods on the Seder plate, my mother-in-law always made matzo ball soup with whole chicken pieces for Passover. That skin just went to waste after boiling. <sobs>

Cracklins = fried skin/fat, but usually from pork.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Ooohhhh, is that what pork rinds are? I’ve never tried those. I’m a bad southern girl, lol!

augustlan's avatar

Pretty much, but way better than the ones you can buy in a bag. Yum!

JLeslie's avatar

Which is why I say the Jews can be our own worst enemies. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have more heart attacks than the average population. LOL.

I hadn’t thought to fry up the skins, but I am going to do it for my husband next time I make chicken broth, he will love that. The only time I sometimes buy pork rinds is when I make black bean soup, but instead I am going to fry up some chicken skins I think and try it.
