Fresh-baked soft bread with butter, still warm.

Chocolate chip cookie dough rescued from the bowl right before being plopped on a baking sheet.

Bubble and squeak

Leftover turkey sandwiches made with Hawaiian rolls and canned cranberry jelly, the jiggly kind.

Brie baked with roasted garlic, eaten on Carr’s water crackers and red globe grapes.

Home fries, with lots of onion and mushrooms, just like daddy used to make.

The “Chinese vegetables” from every strip mall Chinese take-away in America. I’m aware this is not representative of real Chinese food.

Cucumbers, sliced and floating in a bowl of salted ice water.

I don’t care for mayonnaise or organ meats.
