Can I use a Perixx mouse ("Windows only") on Mac?

Asked by dolinsky296 (117points) August 18th, 2013

The Perixx MX-2000B is described on Amazon as only being compatible with Windows, and the driver on the Perixx site is a Windows executable. On any other “Windows only” mouse I’ve used, the primary and secondary buttons work fine on Mac, but I’ve never used a mouse with forward/backward buttons or a double click button on Mac. Does anyone know of a program or driver that makes this mouse fully compatible, or should it be ready when plugged in?

Supposedly USBOverdrive will get all non-primary buttons to work, (you can assign any button to do what you want). I hear it works fine handling regular applications but if you are thinking of using it for gaming, your Mac may freeze. The scuttlebutt is they are developing a driver for OSX some point soon in the future; when, I have no clue. You might have to check regularly with Cnet, Gizmoto, or something.
