Why did Garlic supplementation cure my ED?

Asked by eroi (33points) August 25th, 2013 from iPhone

I am 20 years old, healthy and active, in a loving relationship of two years. In the past 5 or 6 months I’ve had very very bad ED, meaning that usually I can’t even get it up at all and when I do, it’s not very hard and only lasts while there is some physical stimulation. It is completely limp and dead down there.

I’ve tried every natural remedy out there, starting with self diagnosis and experimenting with different things to single out the actual cause. I tried daily exercise and cardio for 3 months while cleaning up my diet, watching calories, eating lots of lean meats and healthy fats. I’m a healthy weight and have a muscular build with low body fat. In three months I went through a body transformation and gained a lot of muscle mass, but no improvements downstairs.

Went to a doctor and got my testosterone levels checked: I was fine. In fact I have plenty of testosterone. Makes sense seeing as how I was eating plenty of healthy fats, took 50mg zinc tablets every night, and was setting squat PRs weekly.

Then I tried herbal supplements. I literally tried everything, from Cayenne pepper for blood flow to Horny Goat Weed for libido. Nothing. Even L-Arginine supplementation at 5–10 grams a day for a month showed no improvements, and L-Arginine is generally regarded as the “Natural Viagra” due to its effect on NO levels. Tribulus, another NO and libido booster also had no effect on me.

I also tried some herbs for Anxiety (which I have) and Depression (which I DON’T), such as St. John’s Wort, Kava Kava, Ashwagandha, and many different teas. Nothing.

I thought maybe I had a mineral deficiency so I cut out caffeine for 3 months and supplemented Magnesium, still nothing.

So that crosses out diet, weight, testosterone, blood flow, libido, and NO levels.

After many months of trying to find the root cause of my ED, I read that erection problems are often signs of heart problems, so I looked into that. I read that Garlic improves blood flow by relaxing and dilating blood vessels and lowers bad cholesterol, so it is often recommended to people with heart problems. Garlic helps prevent blood clotting and clears blogged arteries with built up plaque from high cholesterol. The recommended dosage is one clove per day, so instead, I picked up a bottle of 1000mg Garlic pills at Wal-Mart and took 8 pills hoping for faster results. Coincidentally, I was seeing my girlfriend the very next day, so needless to say, I really wanted those fast results. And when the time came…. Hardest erection I’ve had in MONTHS. I needed absolutely no physical stimulation to get it up and maintained it for an hour at 100% hardness. Why is this?

It’s my best guess that I had high cholesterol or possibly I had built up plaque in vessel walls that were keeping the blow from flowing freely to my penis to get an erection. Before taking Garlic I couldn’t even achieve an erection through self stimulation, with or without porn. My assumption is that Garlic cleared me of excess cholesterol build up and now blood flow is back to normal.

The funny thing is, I recently got a prescription for actual ED medication, which will probably never be filled out now, thanks to Garlic.

So, why did GARLIC have such a profound and immediate effect on my body, is my diagnosis correct or is there more to this that someone could fill me in on? Thanks so much for anyone more knowledgeable on this topic who can help me!

the more you think about ED the worse it gets, especially at your very advanced age.
What you need to do is have nocturnal tumescence test. It’s basically a piece of hardware that measures the frequency and strength of nocturnal erections. Here’s the poor-man’s version: do you wake up with raging morning wood? If you do, the plumbing and circuitry are all fine, it is more likely stress or relationship issues.

Also, people who abuse porn (hur hur) have trouble getting an erection in intimate situations with other partners. If you are able to get an erection during porn but not without, that points to it. It’s exactly the same wiring that causes problems to laxative abusers.

Fun fact: if you take Viagra when you have healthy plumbing, you may end up causing a severe priapism and permanent penile damage! Not to be a boner killer or nothing.

@drhat77 LOL

@eroi 8000 mg of garlic, administered ONE time would have nothing to do with resolving your problems, whatever they are. Processed garlic isn’t that effective, anyway. If you really want to get effects from garlic use, take a raw clove, peel it, and chop up at least enough to cover the size of a dime. Let sit for 10 minutes before swallowing. Be sure to eat a bit of regular food first. If you do this on an empty stomach, you’ll throw it right up.

Now unless your girlfriend also follows the same protocol, and smells as bad as you will, it’s unlikely she’ll be willing to hang around long enough for you to find out anything.

By the way, I take garlic just this way when I’m sick. If I’m really ill, I take it 3 times a day, in which case nobody wants to hang around me anyway. However, it does work to knock out an infection pretty quickly. If you want to do this to help your heart, you’re still going to have to do this way more than a few times.

You’d be better served to simply change your diet and lifestyle.

@snowberry he is 20. Unless he has the worst family history ever he is very unlikely to have cardiac problems.

Garlic can keep bugs off you if you eat it every day, too, I think it’s wonderful!

@snowberry I’m not sure how much of the details you read, but I already stated that for 3 months I monitored my diet and exercise routine heavily, limited sugar, no caffeine, reduced sodium, only healthy fats, watched calories, etc.

Please read my entire post before offering generalized advice which isn’t going to help me at all.

Also, Odorless Garlic. So I’m dismissing that sarcastic comment about the smell which didnt serve any helpful purpose anyways.

@eroi OK, whatever. Odorless garlic is processed garlic, indicated by the fact that you said you took 8000 mg of the stuff. It’s not nearly as effective as the real thing. You apparently are concerned with plaque in your arteries, etc. How do you know you have plaque/cholesterol problems anyway? If you went to your doctor he should have checked for that. You didn’t say he’d diagnosed you with cholesterol/plaque. But that’s not likely at your age anyway (as @drhat77 alluded to), and yes, he also was having a bit of fun at your expense as well.

Regarding the smell of raw garlic, hey my friend, if you eat raw garlic, it will be on your breath! Unless your girlfriend likes that smell, you will want her to eat it too, or she won’t want to be too close to you.

Anyway, whatever you use doesn’t normally work in a day. Not garlic, anyway. But hey, if you think it works for you, why not?

@snowberry If it turns vampires off, why shouldn’t it turn humans on?! :)
