What is the best ink-refilling method for the Parker Duofold fountain pen?

Asked by tomathon (768points) August 26th, 2013

I’m just about ready to buy this pen link but I’m not sure if I should buy the ink bottle or ink cartridge for refilling the ink.

Anyone have experience?

My dad used fountain pens for 40 years, He used both bottles and cartridges. The cartridges are less messy and refills fit better in your pocket than the bottles.

I fill my pen from an ink bottle. It isn’t messy if you are careful but you need a tissue to wipe up surplus ink.

At $590 for the pen, the method I would expect would be to have a bevy of naked harem girls perform a dance for me as one of them fills the pen in ways that I wot not and care less.

But since we’re in General, where poetry don’t work, creativity is frowned upon and answers have to be “helpful” (though more helpful than the foregoing I cannot even imagine)… I’d go with the cartridge. And a single naked harem girl of my own choosing.

I used to use fountain pens. The cartridge is easier.

I love writing with fountain pens.

The cartridges are much more convenient and much less messy in comparison to ink bottles.

The ink doesn’t dry out as easily in the cartridges. The cartridges can be purchased in single colors or multi-color packs. They take up less room than ink bottles.

Yes, Parker fountain is my favourite one. The best way to refill the ink in a pen by using ink converter.
