Yes we do, but I’m thinking it needs to have a mostly British cast, that’s just my own personal preference. I’d love to see memory flashbacks and holodeck sessions that harken back to Jolly Old England in different periods (Jane Austen era, the swinging 60’s, Sherlock Holmes time frame, even Henry the VIII’s time period).

I didn’t care for Enterprise, even though I loved Scott Bakula in Quantum Leap. The time period was just too close to our own. The casting, and the chemistry by the cast has to be just right, or else it won’t work.

Also didn’t like Deep Space Nine, but loved TNG and Voyager.

There also has to be some relationship tension or else it’s all just fancy gadgets. Witty repartee is a must.

Maybe it could be set on earth in the Academy, but with the trainers having to take the students out on real, but limted time length missions. Of course something will always go wrong. What do you think?

Make it not so.

Enough Star Trek already.

ucme's avatar

Nah, rather watch a documentary on the journey of an anagram solving rodent, Rat Treks.

Yes! They were getting really creative with DS9 and Voyager than… (crickets)

As long as neither jar jar abrams or fuck-you-rick berman is involved.

The most recent film was just voted worst star trek film ever by a sci fi convention. This series is dead, Jim.

Dune, dune, dune!!!!!

@filmfann
While I wholly approve of “into shitness” being voted the worst Star Trek movie ever, unfortunately the series is not dead, because the brain dead masses gobble this shit up like candy.

I wish it had stopped at TNG. I think it went downhill after that.

@zenzen I’d love to be able to watch a new and well-acted series. Who would you suggest command the ship, Jean-Luc?

ragingloli's avatar

It is time for a Caitian captain.

talljasperman's avatar

We should get a real French captain not a British one pretending to be French… Also would it hurt to have a Pilipino or Canadian Captain? They can be set a the 25th century.

I want MOAR ROMULANS!

Actually, it would be lovely if they could televise some of the great novels that have come out.

The Eugenics Wars: the Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh. The Destiny trilogy. There are some great Trek-universe writers out there with full casts of characters and stories that require few if any of the old casts.

Please, let the TOS reboot die. They fucked up Khan. I’m over it.

@Kardamom Yes indeed.
@Pachyderm_In_The_Room We will always be here.Engage.
@ucme Ignored.
@DWW25921 I liked those. Now Enterprise…
@filmfann Oh you wait… we is far from dead…
@Unbroken Agreed. However, that is not what I asked.
@Mr_Paradox You are obviously not a trekker. We taketh the good with the bad, but we do not wish for its demise.
@ETpro Excellent question buddy. Maybe – Edward James Olmos
In my fantasy, however, it’s Edward Norton or Denzel – but that aint gonna happen.
@talljasperman Interesting.
@Seek_Kolinahr Hi sweetheart. Yes, and yes. But a series – I need seven more years. Who would You have on the bridge, my learned friend?

PLease excuse typos, but not grammar. I need to upgrade my glasses and I am in denial.

@zenzen Olmos certainly had the intellectual horsepower and breadth of acting ability to do a great job. But unless they shoot it all in a stretch and push it to Netflix (an increasingly popular way to avoid major media and their insane Pilot Trap) he is too old to do 7 seasons.

zenzen's avatar

Too old? He’s only 66. Our globe trotting President is 90. Besides, the spaceship was lost for 20 years and now we’re catching up with it. ;-)

ETpro's avatar

@zenzen It pains me to make that claim. I’m 3 years his senior. But A, if you want a new series, then the ship’s commander should not be past retirement age with 7 seasons to go. And is you want a resurrection of Excelsior, that’s going to require casting people who can at least look like clones of a now dead or decrepit crew. Why not a new ship that abandons the scientifically controversial and dangerous transwarp drive technology in favor of the Infinite Improbability Drive that has so amply proven its capabilities in this Galaxy and beyond.

Tee-hee

Seek's avatar

Olmos is already an admiral. He died on Earth 250000 years ago.

If I had my ‘druthers, I might do a series on pre-First Contact space faring. Perhaps the Vulcan/Romulan split, the life of Surak, and the world war that divided the two species. They could even have little “meanwhile, on Terra…” sequences showing what earthlings were doing in our own bronze age.

zenzen's avatar

@ETpro And Denzel?

ETpro's avatar

Given the low level murmur about Dexter Firefly, he might well pull it off.Just give him a vehicle that works harder at being interesting and believable that politically correct.
