Why did "The Robinsons" new "Lost in Space" television series FAIL to get picked up?

Asked by RealEyesRealizeRealLies (30951points) September 1st, 2013

They made a fantastic pilot… (sorry you’ll have to dig out all the parts individually).

It was a well executed pilot that went unsold back in 2003… just before the excellent Battlestar Galactica reboot. In fact, BSG fans will recognize some of The Robinsons sound track being used on a few of the parts. Odd to hear it. But the music was obviously transferred to BSG after LIS was cancelled.

Why oh why wasn’t this pilot picked up? The plot was an excellent change from the original… and I see plenty of great setups for where the series could have gone to.

I won’t spoil the episode for those who haven’t seen it. But after a few replies, I’d love to discuss some of the plot changes from the original.

The opening is rather boring.

Really picks up on part 2 here.

Notice the beginning soundtrack BSG fans?
