Miley Cyrus, what theory would you have on why she seems to be so controversial?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) September 25th, 2013

(disclaimer) This is a non-serious question to kill time and get some giggles. Any suggestion on why she behaves the way she does or not is unimportant because unless we are her shrink, we have no clue. Sorry ahead of time for any Miley Cyrus fans who maybe offended by anything said of her. If you have to call her hoochie, or anything like that lets do it with dignity. Enjoy

It appears that whenever I play attention to what Miley Cyrus is doing, it is always around something she said or did that to many is outlandish, boorish, or crude. Love her or hate her she is getting press, and attention. Here are some theories as to why she does what she does and how:

A. She wants to be known as the ”Twerk Queen” similar to Michael Jackson being known as the ”King of Pop”.
B. She wants to shed her ”Good girl” image of Hanna Montana.
C. She wants to be noticed more than Lady Gaga.
D. She is taking a page from Madonna’s playbook that the more out there you act the more the press looks in.
E. She want her own identity than being Billy Ray Cyrus’ little girl.
F. She feels the more she is trended online, etc, it will make her more bankable in movies because near everyone will know who she is.
G. She believes she is a good role model for Girl Power and upward female mobility.

Do you have a theory not that you care, or that it is in any way important, just for fun and giggle?

She grew up being good girl Hannah Montana….now she wants to be wild, do drugs, dress controversial, do “controversial” things (these things aren’t really that controversial, it’s just that we have nothing better to pay attention to, or at least a lot of people don’t.)....I don’t think she’s very talented, she was ok as a cute 17 year old Disney channel actor. But she is not a singer or songwriter, at least not a good one. I don’t see any musical talent to speak of. She is famous from her younger days and can’t let go of it, and doesn’t need to because she already has the name and money. Miley Cyrus. So she will continue to do dumb things, we don’t have to continue to make a big deal out of them or give her the attention she wants, but we probably will.

Honestly from the looks of it I think she wants to be in porn or something. I don’t get what the look is she’s going for and the tongue is really confusing and uncomfortable for me. It doesn’t need to be hanging out like a tired dogs all the time….but it is….

My nine year old daughter was a huge Hannah Montana fan. She had the Hannah Montana doll and H.M. curtains and H.M. sing-a-long microphone and the H.M. clothes hamper. She now thinks Miley is gross. We recently tossed all the Hannah Montana stuff.

What @deni said.

I have a picture of my Mom with Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, when she was about 6, I would guess.
Miley wants to break the Disney image, the same way Christina Agulera and Britney Spears did.

Because she wants to be..

That IS show business!

That tongue hanging out all the time is freaky.
I think she is an attention whore. I think when her 15 minutes of fame is over, she may regret some of her actions. Or not.

Her publicist and agent have probably advised her to take this route.

She’s trying to “find herself”. lol
It could be worse, she could be throwing bongs out of windows and accusing the police of sexually assaulting her (Amanda Bynes). She could shave her head and go on a crazy break (Britney Spears). She could be a thief and total booze bag freak show (Lindsay Lohan).

I like Miley, but I’m in no way offended by this question or any of it’s answers. :0)

The controversy is caused by watching a “good girl” go “bad.” It is sad and a bit pathetic, but people can’t seem to stop watching the train wreck in progress.

In Hollywood, bad press is better than no press. She’s trying to prove that she’s a grown-up now and she’s getting a lot of attention for it. Everyone knows who Miley is and everyone is talking about her, just like she wanted. She may even be a genius.~

This doesn’t make her any less disgusting, though. She did an interview with Rolling Stone recently and it was a pretty interesting read if anyone actually wants to know what she’s thinking.

The more I think of it, if it works to keep her in the loop and the buzz about there, isn’t it more brilliant than pathetic?

Look at what a sex tape did for the Kardashians; one sister get caught on tape getting rode like an 18 speed and they have a whole fashion and scent empire now. Not to mention how Snookie (leaves a bad taste in my mouth just to mention that no talent hack) parlayed a drunken knock out into more fame than it deserved. Miley could be playing the media and those who watch it like a well tuned fiddle. The more she stokes the flame the more people show up with the limber allowing her to make the flame even bigger, to attract yet more people bringing lumber.

Another Paris Hilton I seem to have missed… At least her name doesn’t sound like a hotel of a country’s capital.

God, I really can’t stand this clown. Her VMA performance was just about the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen. She was quoted as saying to her co-performer, the dude in the striped jail outfit, “We’re going to make history tonight.” Give me a fucking break! And the tongue? STOP THAT SHIT! This moron just needs to go away.

Did anyone see that Sinead O’Connor released a private letter to Miley, in response to her making a statement that her Wrecking Ball video was inspired by O“Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” video? I thought it was pretty interesting. I doubt Miley will listen, though.

@FutureMemory So, who is the bigger clown, Miley or Snookie?
