What's wrong with you?

Asked by DWW25921 (6498points) September 29th, 2013

Everyone has a “thing” that they need checked out from time to time. I have a back thing and 2 personal physical things. Anyway, sometimes it’s fine and other times I have troubles. I also have a thing about people swearing too much or causing trouble just for fun. That kind of thing bothers me. It doesn’t have to be a physical thing, it could be emotional or a personality thing. Anyway, what’s wrong with you?

@DWW25921 Are you asking for an organ recital?

DWW25921's avatar

@Sunny2 Just wondering what’s going on with folks.

I’m finally admitting that I’m getting old. I mean, really old.

Really bad knees.

And a big 0-ending birthday next week ;-)

@Pachyderm_In_The_Room I could swear that after that one test they do… Someone owes me a dinner and a movie! Just saying…

Got the middle-age tummy sag going on, my joints are a little creakier than they used to be.

I have a bad knee. Need a knee replacement but they won’t do it until I’m older.

Too many things to mention, lol! All kidding aside, I have low self-esteem and low self-confidence. There are times that I am overwhelmed with anxiety, even if it has no basis. I am very empathetic, but at the same time often don’t know how to react to people’s pain. (For instance, I’m not very good at knowing what to say when someone has had a death in the family.)

I don’t like a lot of noise…it adds greatly to my stress level. That is probably tied in to my job, where most of the day one can not relax, having to be hyper-vigilant about fights breaking out, etc. Sometimes I almost feel like I suffer from a civilian form of “shell-shock.” I feel like I am becoming more anti-social the worse the stress from my job gets. Every weekend I just want to stay home and not go out.

I was born without the ability to complain. I wish I knew how to express the sorrow this causes me, but the sentiment just doesn’t come out…

Haha, a ’‘what’s your problem’’ thread, nice.

There isn’t anything specifically wrong with me physically, at least not yet, or not that I know of. I’m thankful for that.

DWW25921's avatar

@yankeetooter I wish I could give you some of my self esteem! It comes about regardless of the evidence against it! There’s nothing wrong with being anti-social. Just accept that as a personal asset instead of beating yourself up over it. Besides, people cause drama. Just try to relax and focus on the things you like. That should help.

Gravity. That is what is wrong with me. Gravity is not my friend.

DWW25921's avatar

@Katniss It’s keeping us all down…

What is right and what is wrong I cannot say. I can only say that imperfection is the beauty of life.

I’m too honest and plain-spoken, I don’t suffer fools gladly or have the tact to keep my mouth shut, and I often view things from a different enough perspective that even those who are on the same side of an issue as me think I’m their enemy.

Berserker's avatar

@jerv Seeing enemies everywhere seems to be a normal, human thing to do. Even less honest or plain spoken people are seen as enemies by some others, so I guess that’s you doubly well fucked. :p

Now stay away from me. ’‘points sword’’ XD

Too many physical ailments to mention here! Also chronic depression and anxiety (well-controlled these days, but still lurking.) And apparently, I can be condescending. I’m trying to get better about that.

I swear I answered this question, but my response disappeared?

Right now I don’t have a simple answer for this question, I feel very much like my body is destroying itself from the inside out. I am hopeful that all of my health issues will wrap back into one common explanation, but momentarily I am feeling kind of pitiful. Guess that’s my simple answer.

I have an as-yet-unidentified neurological condition, so far all the tests have been unconclusive so now its just a matter of observing symptoms. It affects my bladder and sometimes my ability to walk. I also have an old shoulder injury that has resulted in restricted movement on the left side, and I was born blind in one eye.

Since I started hormone therapy for my sex-transition, I seem to have lost the ability to get angry, which is entirely a good thing.

I have a few physical conditions that give me issues (SLE, fibromyalgia, Sjorgen’s syndrome, migraines, diabetes, and the list goes on). I am fortune that I can still get out of bed (even though it sometimes takes me a while) and go to work (desk job). Pretty much every part of my body aches and/or screams at me throughout the day. I consider myself fortune as my SLE has not affected any organs at this time. The nature of the beast is its unpredicatability. I have friends who are not so fortune as theirs affect their kidneys, heart, brain, lungs, etc. Some day maybe a cure will be found but until then—every 3 months back to the rheumatologist; every 6 months to the eye doctor, every 3 months to the GP for sugar check. I guess I am paying for their vacations and new houses not to mention the pharmaceutical companies who are also getting their share of my co-pays and fees.
On an emotional level, I have no tolerance for people who abuse children or animals. Don’t even have a plan to change that. Just keep adding money to the cookie jar should I witness something that requires me to need bail money.

I am old, bored, jaded, slightly overweight, am starting to suffer from arthritis and, evidently, tending toward high blood pressure for the first time in my life.
