Any cool suggestions for a gamer tag?

Asked by 8magnum8 (121points) October 1st, 2013 from iPhone

I’m in a sniper clan on a video game and we are all changing our usernames to SNIPE_? But I don’t know what word to use, if there are any ideas please tell me. I was thinking something like Stratus, Eclipse, orbit, or words that sound cool like those. Thanks!

The scientific name for snipe is Gallinago gallinago. How about just Gallinago for your name? It would be a great conversation starter. Here’s a link. http://www.thegamebirdlist.com/birdlist/wilsons-snipe

If you’re a fan of either NCIS (currently the top show first in the ratings) or Bones (also in the top ten) you could try variations on the names of the lead characters. Both were snipers when they served in the armed forces.

Here’s a few off the top of my head:

SnipeNCIS
SnipeGunny (his rank as a Marine)
SnipeGibbs
SnipeJethro

SnipeBones
SnipeSeeley
SnipeBooth
SnipeRanger (Booth was an Army Ranger during his service)

I doubt there will be that many who don’t catch on to the homage.

If you don’t really care for either show, then just bypass these suggestions :)

Anyone calling themselves sniper is immediately tagged as lame, I mean c’mon, show some originality.

how about backstabber or towercamper

If we’re going for people that were snipers originally, as @Buttonstc suggests, you might as well go with Snipe_Ruth , for Dr. Ruth Westhemier, the famous sex doctor.

Yes, she was a Sniper, in the Israeli army.

So, you want your gamer tag to blatantly advertise that you do something that everybody hates? That’s just asking to be team-killed. I have to agree with @ucme, especially given how much hate snipers get already. Most FPS players hate anybody who stays in the same spot for more than 0.025 seconds, and gawd forbid if you ever hardscope somebody in COD; you’re “supposed” to use the sniper rifle by doing a 360 then no-scoping!

I know that when I run my T49 to snipe in World of Tanks, I do it without a frou-frou gamer tag. When I want to intimidate somebody, I just let them see my win rate in the T49… after doing more to destroy the enemy team than any three of my teammates.

@jerv Snipers may as well pack a tent & sleeping bag, can get chilly in high places.

Yeah, she was a genuine badass in her younger years.

Actually probably still is. She definitely has chutzpah.

@Blondesjon That just makes me think of this

I never understood why people got so mad about people camp/sniping. I love when people do that, makes them easy targets :P

jerv's avatar

@uberbatman A good sniper never camps, at least not in known sniper nests, and not after their muzzle flash reveals their position. I snipe, but I don’t camp.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@jerv I agree, I’m the same way when I get my hands on a sniper rifle.

ucme's avatar

Of course they’re easy targets, you can stand there right over them for ages, savouring the moment before you slash their throat & teabag their still twitching corpse.
The irritating aspect is when they get their one kill a month, with a shot in the back to some proper gamer, the type who get value for money from their gaming.
