Does India have a 3G network?

Is the new Iphone unlocked? I think I read that locking and unlocking are gone. Would I be able to use the new Iphone in India? Would it work on a 3g network- see question as well.

im not sure about unlocking, but i know that you have to activate in store, except if you are already an iphone customer or something. and if you dont activate within 30 days then at&t has some legal actions they can take against you. what is your cellular service that will carry the iphone over there, or is it not scheduled for india yet?
