What are some good or natural ways of gaining long term energy to workout longer or for other projects?

Asked by Emeraldisles5 (160points) October 29th, 2013

I want to workout for an hour and a half( spin class, and 30 mins of jump rope, treadmill running, elliptical, or step mill or arc trainer), and I want to be able to give it my all, and get some more energy because 8 times out of 10 I get an endorphin high about 20 minutes in and feel more energized after for a while, however, I don’t want to have awful insomnia tonight. What can I do besides coffee? I have heard meditation can give long term energy, especially if its done outside. Besides sleeping, and I don’t want to take a super long nap, and caffeine what are some good ways of gaining longer lasting energy?

Eat a banana.

Thanks. I’ve heard of the potassium helping. What about oatmeal?

Try it and see! Oatmeal doesn’t work for me… it leaves me feeling tired and light-headed, even if I leave out sugar and milk.

Okay thank you. I do remember having oatmeal before going out running or exercising, and I didn’t get stomach cramps
