Is there a way on iphone to put a contact on the homescreen?

Asked by JLeslie (65409points) November 6th, 2013

Not the contacts icon, but a single contact. I want to be able to click on my husband without having to go into contacts.

I don’t think so but you can put him in your “Favorites” on the phone tab.

What the penguin said.

Thanks. I put him in my favorites already. On my old phone I could put him right on the homescreen and it was great. One less step.

Amazing what you can find by Googling. ;-)

Try this. More hoop-jumping than I care to take, but might be something like what you’re looking for.

I actually had tried to google, but didn’t get a simple answer and hoped a jelly would have the simple answer. At first glance that all looks like a pain in the neck. So many steps. On my Samsung I just chose to have the contact on my homescreen. I think it was two steps and no downloadnig anything. I’m sure there will be things I like better about the iphone though. I hope.

Absolutely, but only if you jailbreak it. You can also add contacts to your lockscreen for even faster access.

Edit: just read Pachy’s how-to. I stand corrected.

Yes, Android has its advantages, but I still like my iPnone better than I did my Galaxy 3.

How about this?

I use the “speak to dial” feature, myself. That way I just have to push one button, tell Siri who to call and she does it for me.

You can also tell her “send a text message to Bob Smith” and she’ll say, “What do you want to say?” Then once you respond, she types it up for you and asks if you’re ready to send it.

when I first got my iPhone, I used to mess with Siri. One day I told her to go fuck herself and she responded, “Do you kiss your mother with that mouth, Lauren?” That was just weird.

@janbb Thanks! Googling helps a lot!

@JLeslie

Go to the AppStore and search for an app called One Touch Dial.

It’s free and it mimics the outline for something similar in Firefox for one touch access to favorite websites.

The One Touch Dial App has room for (I think ) 12 favorite numbers.
