I just updated to ios 7. How do I get rid of "Storage almost full" message?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) November 16th, 2013

This did not happen before updating. Now I get it constantly. I deleted a couple of apps but I still get the message.

Anyone else have this problem and know how I can get rid of this annoying message?

Do you have lots of songs on your device? That’s what caused the message for me. They were automatically installed on my iPhone from a previous backup.

What had happened was, iOS7 took some additional storage space as well, combined with all your saved media. What I do is when I get that message, I upload all my photos to my computer with iTunes.

Then I just delete all my photos on my iPhone when it’s all uploaded and backed up to my H.D.

For me usually photo take the most space.

I don’t have any music or photos on my device and maybe one or two videos.I only have 16 gb. So I’m not sure why I’m getting this message. I just want it to go away.

Clear Safari Cache and Offline Reading List. iMessages, especially ones with photo and video attachments, can eat up a lot of space, so delete them.

Or else you can try a Restart.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red “slide to power off” slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Resetting your settings

You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again. All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won’t lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
If nothing helps you can contact Apple.

When you plug your device into iTunes on your computer, be bar on the bottom tells you what type of data is taking up what proportion of drive space. Videos use a lot of memory, so getting those off your device and into the cloud should help. A lot of apps will save your content to iCloud, DropBox or Evernote, so it’s always accessible.

I always get the largest capacity possible, so I haven’t had this happen, but several friends have run into this problem. I have about 28MB of stuff on my iPhone, and I don’t even have a whole lot of Apps. Mine is mostly photos. I should have downloaded that stuff to my computer yesterday when I updated to 7.0.4, but I forgot.

Thanks guys. I ended up resetting my device to factory settings and I haven’t gotten the message since.
