Who are your favourite fictional villains?

Asked by ucme (50047points) November 18th, 2013

Obviously this can be from movies/TV/books/ the bible/comic books or any damn place, so long as the buggers are just made up…no actual persons living or dead were named in this telecast. Okay then it’s just a thread, nice idea though.

Capt. Hook. And Tick-Tock the Crocodile.

The Wicked Witch of the West.

Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Men

Seek's avatar

Maleficent is hands-down the best Disney villain ever.

Mr. Mxyzptlk is my favorite Superman villain.

The Sheriff of Nottingham as played by the incomparable Alan Rickman

Hannibal Lecter Obviously.

And I know I’m going to have more, as I think of them. ^_^

wildpotato's avatar

Lord Darcia III of Wolf’s Rain
The Joker
BOB of Twin Peaks.

Pachy's avatar

Dr. Lecter heads my list, closely followed (in no particular order) by Moriarty, Wicked Witch of the East, Tom Ripley, and all the Bond and Batman villains.

ucme's avatar

I’m just going to get mine out of the way nice & early…Hans Landa

My favorites are the cheesy villains from the old Batman TV show.
The Joker, The Riddler, etc. They were great actors hamming it up. Especially in that era, with all the sex, drugs and rock n roll, it had to be a great show to work on.

The Evil Witch from the Wizard of Oz is pretty (“I’ll get you, my pretty) awesome.

Seek's avatar

OK, here’s the Star Trek specific post:

Khan Noonien Singh

Q

The Borg

The Borg Queen

God (Why does God need a starship?)

Lore

Mirror Universe Spock

ucme's avatar

Best cartoon bad guy, Dick Dastardly, even though he was essentially a fucking epic failure.

ucme's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr Despite the exclusively Star Trek content in your last post, i’m willing to overlook that & still give ya lurve, but only because it’s you.

El_Cadejo's avatar

Joker(excluding heroin addict joker from DKR)
Dr Doom
Darth Bane
Abeloth

@ucme Aren’t you a darling? ^_^

ibstubro's avatar

Oh, speaking of bane…Lord Foul, from Donaldson’s “Lord Foul’s Bane” trilogy.

Seek's avatar

^ The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever

ucme's avatar

Speaking of the WHO in the question, can’t possibly leave out Daleks, although to be fair, they were more or less upturned wheelie bins with a person inside sticking out an egg whisk & a sink plunger.

ibstubro's avatar

Yup, yup, yup @Seek_Kolinahr. I’ve probably read the first trilogy 7–10 times in my life.

Seek's avatar

^ I think I have to skip to book 2. The first one is just achingly slow. Like, we get it, you can feel your fingers. Awesome.

ibstubro's avatar

^ When I was in High School I was buying those books and donating them to libraries, I thought so much of them. :)

wildpotato's avatar

@ucme Daleks are so lame! Weeping angels all the way. The Master is pretty cool, too.

Seek's avatar

That’s awesome. I inherited all the books when I married my hubby. Chronicles, Second Chronicles, and Last Chronicles. I heard there’s another trilogy now, too. Further Chronicles or summat.

ucme's avatar

@wildpotato Check out the skin condition on Davros though, enough to frighten any pissant bot.

Seek's avatar

What would happen if an Angel ended up face-to-face with a Silence?

ucme's avatar

^^Cathedral library?

ibstubro's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr I think Donaldson may have just finished a book recently.

Dracula

Especially as played by Gary Oldman.

Grand Admiral Thrawn

Juels's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr Maleficent is my favorite. Did you see the trailer for the movie coming out next May?

Seek's avatar

I didn’t see the trailer, but I have seen pictures. I’m actually pretty disappointed that Jolie has the part. She doesn’t look it at all, and I’m not convinced she can be that evil.

downtide's avatar

Scar from the Lion King is my favourite Disney villain.

Also Roy Batty from Blade Runner

Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb
Sebastian Moran from Conan Doyle’s “The Empty House”

@ucme , J. J. Quark – Baron Silas Greenback – Count Duckula . You know , I think I’ll start watching my DM DVDs again ! Those were such good cartoons with such interesting characters , the animation and the stories were always good .
=o)

ucme's avatar

@lx102303 I always hated Baron Greenback with a passion bordering on unhealthiness.
He had a voice like Barry White with a mouthful of wasps & he was an arrogant bastard too.

lx102303's avatar

@ucme , you’re right ! He had such a raspy voice which was very irritating . “Crumbs!” – I just remembered that the show had some really good sound effects ! Whoever did the backgrounds were very good .
=)

ucme's avatar

It is just a fantastic show, Penfold is one of my all time heroes.

lx102303's avatar

@ucme , Count Duckula was also really good and , someday , I hope to include the series in my DVD collection .
=)
