Pain all over?

Asked by Sjk (32points) November 24th, 2013 from iPhone

Hi does anyone have any idea what is wrong with me so I can get my life back. I’m not sure what are relevant symptoms so please excuse me. It all started with pain at the top of my right thigh when I was walking. The pain was intermittent but when it happened it would paralyse my whole leg for a few seconds and then it would go away. Since then my feet now feel like I am walking on glass when I get up in the morning. The pain goes up my legs and continues to hurt for about 10mins then goes away. I have now got extreme fatigue and I need to sleep in the day. I find it hard to walk upstairs without my legs going wobbly and the pain has also started in my arms. My right arm being most painful and at times I can not even lift a cup. The pains in my limbs continue through out the day but some days are worse than offers. I am not sure if this is coincidence but I can’t stop sneezing and the inside of my nostrils are burning red. This gives me bad headaches and trouble breathing in the mornings. I have been to my GP a few times but as my blood tests came back normal they are not sure what is wrong with me. I also independently arrange an MRI as I thought I may have MS but that also came back normal. I’m 36 yrs old and this time last yr I was climbing mountains, paragliding and had a successful career. Now I do not go far from my house. Please help if you can. Sarah

I sure hope you don’t have Shingles.

Yikes! Idk. But I hope you get to the bottom of it. Maybe if the go doesn’t know quack take thew to a holistic doctor with the labs so they can have as much info as possible. They could at least point you in a direction of a specialist that should help.

Sounds like your quality of life is terrible atm. Have heart and advocate for yourself. Keep a pain/ symptom journal, food journal whatever. See if that turns anything up as far as patterns.

I once kept track of my symptoms how long they lasted what o was doing before for a week summarized it into a page and half and took it to my appt. It was a breakthrough for me and my doc.

Other good info to add is an example of what you eat in a day. What meds OTC or other wise you take and any supplements.

Also anything odd in your immediate family history. They will ask a lot more specific questions but essentially all they want to know is what you might have noticed that you may be genetically predisposed to.

Oh and whether or not you have been out of the country lately.what vaccines you have had.

Before you added the burning nostrils I would have said something along the lines of a back injury, esp given an active life style.

The pain in the leg could be sciatic nerve pain hard to tell by the description. I’ve only had one episode in my life. There was definite nerve pain , tingling numbness and shooting pains that made stepping quite an ordeal as very acute pain shot up my leg.

Back injuries can also cause weakness and range of motion issues and headaches. The fatigue comes from dealing with constant pain new limitations struggles and frustration. Also when your body is healing or trying to heal it requires more sleep or delta theta brain waves reaches from rem sleep. If you wake up in the middle of the night in pain it means you probably aren’t getting there.

But then add in the sneezing and red burning in your nose and I am lost.

I am not a doctor or specialist, and there is nothing we, total strangers on the internet, can do for you other than giving suggestions.
It is very important for you to go to a Specialist (Rheumatologists, Neurologists or Orthopaedists) and have it checked out immediately. There are many causes for this and more than likely, you need medications..
As per symptoms it may be Fibromyalgia. The primary symptom of Fibromyalgia is chronic, widespread pain. Many fibromyalgia fighters experience chronic, non-allergic rhinitis with sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes.

Please get yourself taken care of and I hope you get well soon.

Are you over weight? How about your general activity level? I have similar pain when my weight starts to get up there and I don’t get deliberate exercise.
You might also want to look up fibromyalgia.

Hi Judi, no not over weight. I’m the same weight. I do try and get out for an hour a day to walk but it exhausts me and I have to sleep after to recoup the energy. I have asked my doctor about Fibro but he really does not like that as a diagnosis as there is no cure he said?

There is no cure for Fibro, but there are certainly treatments that can improve your quality of life. (I have it, and it does sound similar to what you’re experiencing.) I’d consider getting a second opinion.
