What do you think the chances are of this gofundme thing (campaign, or whatever they call them) actually getting anything?

Alright so I saw an ebay listing for some really nice medical grade isolation transformers, only three left but with selling computers going so slowly I’m not sure if I will have the money to get one before they all sell, so I figured I’d throw up a campaign or whatever you call it on gofundme and will post an ad on kjiji to see if anyone donates.

I’m wondering what you guys think the chances are of anyone actually donating to something like that? I generally don’t count on the generosity of others at all, and don’t really believe in it a lot unless it has some sort of sad story that makes people feel pity and want to donate but maybe that’s just me being cynical.

Do you guys think there more sort of personal things get any donations at all? It seems pretty rare to me but apparently most of gofundme’s campaigns or whatever are this kind, so I figured I’d see what other people think of those sorts of things?

I really don’t count on it making anything but hey if someone does donate for some reason that would be cool, but I’ll just keep trying to sell some stuff for a decent amount as fast as I can so that I can maybe try and get one of these.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on these personally oriented campaigns?

I really don’t think it’d garner any attention or support. You’d have to be able to add an incentive and from what it looks like, you wouldn’t be able to without losing money.

@mambo Yeah, too bad I don’t have leukemia or some crippling disease. I could always say I do but it’s not worth the effort.

@XOIIO Not worth being an asshole, either.

True.

Wish people around here weren’t so damn cheap and would buy one of the damn computers. 30 views or more on each and two replies, wtf.

What’s to lose in trying? Explain the truth of it, and why you might be able to benefit humanity if you have the isolation transformer. The worst that can happen is nobody bites.
