Does UPS drug test?

Asked by mjm8401 (173points) December 1st, 2013

I got a interview tomarrow for Drivers helper at UPS. I just wanted to know if they drug test or not? I don’t smoke all the time. I was at a party about a week ago and smoked. Then I got a call from UPS today for an interview. I have been pretty good about not smoking for atleast two months. I have no intention of smoking anymore either. It was just a one time thing.

I’m pretty sure they do.

Yes they do. They also do extensive background checks.

Of course they do. And they should, especially if you’ll be driving.

THC in small or moderate amounts typically shows in your urine up to two weeks after use.

I would bet that they don’t, based on every firsthand source answer to this question over at Yahoo Answers (Google “ups drug test” and a bunch of these’ll pop up).

If you are worried, go to a drug store and buy an at-home test kit. These test for a much smaller amount in urine than any job test will, so if you come up clean on the at-home kit you can definitely stop worrying.

If the at-home test comes up hot, buy a tallboy of Arizona green tea and a packet of fruit pectin, which you can find in the Jello aisle in the grocery store. Mix and drink about two hours before the test, and pee once beforehand so the reading doesn’t come out as a dilute. Source: one of my best friends used this method to pass random government tests when he was on probation and had smoked repeatedly in the days leading up to the test, and in one case the morning of.

Good luck!

How long does Marijuana hang out in the body

Go Ask Alice – Columbia University Q & A

http://goaskalice.columbia.edu/marijuana-how-long-does-it-hang-out-body

Infrequent Users**

Blood Tests for THC
3 to 4 hours

Blood Test for 9-carboxy-THC
2 to 3 days

Urine Tests for 9-carboxy-THC
3 to 7 days

Infrequent users are those who use marijuana seldom enough that THC and/or 9-carboxy-THC are no longer detectable before their next use.

In essence, these users do not use pot often enough to allow for the tested substances to build-up from one use to another.

Research on saliva tests indicated that they may be able to detect THC up to eight hours after ingestion but they aren’t widely used.

Additionally, exposure to second-hand marijuana smoke may result in a positive urine test within one to two days although it’s unlikely.

Entry level positions at UPS don’t require drug tests for employment .

I know someone that tried to get a job as a package handler at UPS (no driving involved) and didn’t get it because he failed the initial drug test. It may vary by location, but the UPS here certainly does drug test.

Any UPS manager that doesn’t drug test drivers at the very least is an idiot.

They do my friend joined two years ago.

Try sweating in a trash bag on a 20 minute jog/walk.

The companies I have worked for and have heard of drug testing usually does not drug test on the first interview. They only drug test once they have decided to hire the person, so that should give you time to be clean.

Not for seasonally worker, for delivery help.
They may check at certain sites but as a hiring requirement for helper/seasonal, their website sez no.

They will figure out your play sooner or later (They are, after all, ‘The Tightest Ship in the Shipping Business…’)

It depends on the position. My ex was a driver and she was subject to random testing.

The background check is the more important thing to them. They can live with a little drug use if you don’t drive, but thieves don’t sit well with them.

Drug testing when it is done is becoming less and less focused on Marijuana mostly because the results are so inconclusive and can be so unfair. i don’t smoke but I could easily attend a big concert. You can smell the pot everywhere. I’d be breathing it in for hours on line, during seating, during the whole concerts, during long exits and in the parking lot. If I were tested it would come up with a type of “false positive.”

Drug tests today are looking for heavier drugs which is more appropriate in lieu of the fact alcohol is much more of a problem but we learned a hard lesson during prohibition.

Marijuana is used for medicinal purposes not only in states where it legal but where sick people can hold of it. If you live with a cancer patient, as one example, who uses marijuana for pain and nausea relief – you’re gonna test positive, and that’s not fair..

I have health issues that would benefit greatly from being able to take Marijuana, but I’m scared to death to attempt to buy it. I live in a state that is so behind the times that I could lose my home because I was seeking less addictive pain relief options.

If I could get medical marijuana, I would eat it in baked goods, not smoke it.
