Would you rather go to a funeral or a wedding? At least you know the funeral is going to last.

As asked, go crazy.

Over the years I have been to a quite of few of both. I’ve never seen anyone smoosh cake into the face of the guest of honor at a funeral. Could that be why they last?

I’d rather go to a wedding. At least most of them have open bars.

A wedding. Much happier.

Really? Where do you live?

Smitha's avatar

I’d go to the funeral and pay my respects.

A wedding. I don’t like the sappiness at all but I’ll start bawling at a funeral even if I barely knew the person.

@hug_of_war It’s okay. Anything is ok. Just let it go. Oh crap, I can’t. Fuck.

A wedding, even if there is dancing.

Wedding for sure.

@LuckyGuy I made a point to tell my husband not to smush cake on my face. I told him more than once. I saw on Dr. Phil a while back a woman who stayed pissed for many many years because her husband pushed cake into her face on her wedding day. One time, on my birthday, when I first started dating my husband, we were in a restaurant in MX and a waiter surprised me from behind with cream in my face. I was so F&$king angry! I wiped it from my face and put it in my husband’s face. For whatever reason my reaction was to think he set it up. Which he hadn’t. It was just something that restaurant did. Anyway, not funny to many of us, and not a good way to start a marriage.

I am torn on this one. Not sure during which of the two I could gloat more.

@JLeslie “and not a good way to start a marriage.”

It is if the couple wants to do it. Many people think the cake-in-the-face tradition is fun, so why not? We didn’t do it – I spent way too much money on my makeup that day to ruin it – but to each their own.

@livelaughlove21 Absolutely if they both have that sense of humor and want to do the tradition it is fine. I meant not good to start with your wife hating your guts when she specifically said don’t do it. I stated it clearly more than once, basically I was a nag about it. A nag because it was very important to me. The woman on Dr. Phil was also specific before the wedding. If the guy still does it, it is like a precursor to not caring when something will upset your wife, not listening to your wife, basically being dismissive of her feelings, and then add on top that she just had done to her what she didn’t want to endure in front of all her family and friends on a day she spent a lot of time and money planning. I get that maybe he had some sort of picture of doing it at his wedding, just like we picture other things from throwing a bouquet, and then it becomes whose picture of the day wins.
