Kind of wondering how long would you go without say your computer, TV, or microwave, how long would it take you to replace such items?

Interesting the computer is at the top of the list.

I would need to replace my laptop immediately because I need it for work. I would need to replace my phone for similar reasons, but it can wait a little longer (although I think that I am due for a free upgrade, so that would be no biggie.)

I can do without other big ticket items. I can certainly live without a TV and while I would be grumpy over losing video games, but they are not as big of a necessity. If they took the microwave, I wouldn’t bat an eye. I use the oven and stove more anyway.

Thankfully, most robbers wouldn’t steal the books and journals that mean far more to me.

I would need the computer and smartphone to be replaced immediately (minutes). I could live without a microwave for a couple of weeks. I would prefer to never replace the TV. There is really no need for it.

Computer: same or next day. Without this my life is impossible.

TV: Don’t own one anyway. (would turn down a free one)
Mobile: Don’t own one anyway. (would turn down a free one)
Microwave: Don’t own one anyway. (would accept a free one but hardly ever use it)

Actually, my life depends on so few things, that I can literally just tell you every single thing I own, in order of importance, without missing out a single thing. I actually have more things in minecraft that I do in the real world.

All the things I own: (In order of importance)

- Badass gaming computer. i7 cpu, 2×4gig GPU in SLI, the works.
– Love letters and postcards from my girlfriend.
– Cash
– Bankbook for an almost empty account.
– Backup laptop number 1, acer aspire one, it kind of works.
– Passport
– Birth Certificate and a paper to say I am unmarried.
– Refrigerator.
– Three apples, a piece of carrot cake, and 5L bottle of water.
– Washing Machine.
– Toilet paper and soap.
– Backup computer number 2, old hp laptop, cost $100 new, almost broken.
– Five different knives and 4 pieces of every kind of cutlery.
– A glass.
– Mop and sweeper.
– A dozen trousers, pairs of socks, shirts, and other regular clothing.
– A thick coat.
– Three kinds of shoes, fancy, sporty, and labour work.
– A couple expensive suits (for blending in)
– About 20.000 Magic the gathering cards. (now for sale)
– About 50.000 postage stamps (now for sale)
– About 200 old coins from around the world. (now for sale)
– A very old, overused and now retired weed grinder.
– A draw full of rocks.
– A Landline telephone.
– A pack of dispozable razors.
– Deodorant.
– Toothbrush, Toothpaste and Mouthwash.
– Champu.
– Cellotape, Rope, Pens, Paper clips and a dozen magnets.
– A plastic plant in a small pot.
– A charger for a thing I know not what.
– A key that opens something I know not what.
– A file of government papers, residency permission and old payslips and tax stuff.
– A shoe box of junk and bits.
– Maybe a couple things I missed off the list, but can’t think of anything, I’m faily sure.

Looking at the list I would imagine I am either a terrorist suicide bomber, or someone planning to kill themself, the fact is, I am just not much of a person for material goods, and on top of that, I am cutting down on stuff because I plan to be mobile soon.

The only thing in my house that would be difficult to replace is my cat! That would be a cat-astrophe.

My computer… about 30 minutes. I do everything on this thing. My TV… hah, my computer basically is my TV. I’ve never owned a microwave. The things I would have to replace most quickly are my computer, anything needed to keep warm in this season (so, blankets, coat, etc.), and then certain kitchen items – coffee maker and grinder, plates, stuff like that. The rest could take ages; certainly it took a long time for me to assemble this collection.

Lampshades; three years so far. Has anyone used an online lampshade store?

I would replace most appliances and electronics with in a day or two. When my car cooler/warmer was stolen, I didn’t replace it at all.

I wish my clothes washer and dryer would break so I would have an excuse to get new ones. These are at least 15 years old. I have a problem facing me when they do need to be replaced, because I am very thrifty and an equal set would cost around $600 – $800, but I want the tumble front loader and they cost $900 each.

Computer: a week maybe. I’d use the phone or work computer in the meantime.

TV: a week or two. I’d take some time to find a good one at a good price.

Microwave: I don’t have one. I don’t want one. Someone gave me a new one as a Christmas gift a few years ago and I gave it back.

I would replace my computer the next day. Microwave and phone the same week. TV, never if it was my decision, but my partner would replace it quickly enough.
