What's the name of that movie?

Asked by Judi (40025points) December 23rd, 2013 from iPhone

It was a vineyard movie set in the 20’s-40’s maybe.
A guy meets a girl on a train and agrees to pose as her husband to her family who owns a vineyard.
There’s a freeze and they put on wings to blow the warmth of the fire on the grapes to save them. (That scene was beautiful.)
Then there’s a fire and they think all is lost until he digs in and finds a live root and presents it to the parents.
I feel bad that I don’t remember more. I watched it at home and was a bit distracted.
Do you know what movie it was?

Wow! I saw that movie, but it was a long time ago. Now you have me wanting to see it again. I don’t remember any more details than you listed. I do remember that finding the root was a very emotional moment.

A Walk in the Clouds with Keanu Reeves and Aitana Sanchez-Gijon.

@gailcalled – Ahhh… That’s the other one I was trying to think of, but then I was distracted by something else and lost it.

A Walk In The Clouds is correct. Keanu Reaves, Gioncarlo Giannini, Anthony Quinn. Terrific movie. Complete hogwash about growing grapes.

A Walk in the Clouds is the movie you’re looking for, but I will chime in to agree that French Kiss is great fun, and also very good is the movie that first sprung to my mind: Up at the Villa. The also protagonists met on a train, and although there is no vineyard, there is a spectacular shot of sun-drying tomatoes. This is possibly the only movie I’ve truly enjoyed Sean Penn in. And Anne Bancroft is in it. :)

Thanks all! Especially @gailcalled. Now I’ll have to rent them both.

Now I remember Anthony Quinn, but I can’t imagine the possibility of me forgetting Keanu.
