Will you talk to me about Netflix?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46807points) January 2nd, 2014

I signed up for their free month. Then they didn’t have the movie I wanted so I cancelled. BUT I still get movies for the next month anyway.

I want to be sure I understand what I’ve gotten myself into, though, especially since they have my credit card info.

Do I pay a rental fee for the movies or does that $7.99 cover unlimited movies for free?

Also, they say something about “Unlimited DVD’s.” What does THAT mean?

For $7.99/mo you get to stream as many movies as you want (up to 2 simultaneous streams – Roku and you mobile device, for example). There are no additional fees. Regarding DVDs – they do have DVD plans as well – but the $7.99/mo plan does not include DVDs.

Be sure to check out House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. I pirated both and they were so good I actually bought Netflix for a few months just to pay them back since Netflix paid to have them made.

edit: And the cancellation process was smooth. I was never billed again and I never got annoying emails asking me to come back..

I’ve found Netflix to be completely reputable and their customer service excellent. If you cancelled you won’t be billed again, but if you have any concerns whatsoever just call customer service and speak with them. I guarantee they’ll put you at ease. I’ve been a Netflix customer for years, and my account has actually been credited several times for various reasons.

Cool. I just wish they had the movies I want to see!

I heard its up to 5 computers that can share the same account.

Well, when I had my account open on my desk top, Rick wasn’t able to access it from his tablet. It said, “Too many people are using your account.”

My sister gave me her password and I had no problem. Check the guidelines.

Thanks for all the info you guys!

@jca Well, I just had to log out on my desk top, then he was able to get in OK.

I’m going to check the guidelines anyway.

@jca There were options for signing up for 1 to 5 screens, like in different rooms. I just choose the one screen.

You need to talk to their customer service.

They have recently made a change to the number of people allowed to share. I believe you have to pay extra for extra accounts.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, you can have one account, but up to 4 or 5 “screens” can use it at the same time.

That’s why it worked for me and my sister. We could share one account with different computers.

@Dutchess_III: “Well, you can have one account, but up to 4 or 5 “screens” can use it at the same time.”

The $7.99 plan is 2 simultaneous streams. But they are testing a $6.99 plan that only allows for 1 stream at a time. The $11.99 plan allows 4 simultaneous streams.

All I know is that it gave me the option of 1 to 4 screens and the cost was different for all 4 options.

It’s cool though. We hook hub’s tablet up to the TV so we can see the movie on big screen. It’s also playing on his tablet. It’s kind of cool seeing it on both!

I’m pretty much in love with Netflix (NFLX). I’ve owned it for fewer than 3 months and it’s already up over 15%.
