What is the lifestyle like of someone with non Hodgkins lymphoma?

If an older person has a malignant neck lump removed and is diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma what is their life like? Is their life totally different after this diagnosis than beforehand and what are the side effects of having the lump removed? I would think they’d have depression and hours of chemo and radiation but I was wondering if there are any other changes to their day?
