"Does the middle-aged or older, naked body of your long-time spouse still attract you?"?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) January 16th, 2014

(disclaimer) This is not a question about liking someone by their appearance if they are not your partner and have not been for 15 years or greater, I.E. been together since college or high school and now middle aged or older. The length of time you have been together and grown to love each other aside from physical attraction is not pertinent to this question. If you have not been in a long-term relationship greater than 15 years *with the same person continually, this question is not for you. This question has nothing to do with me, or any woman I am involved with, as I am not attached.

Your spouse that you have grown older with, over a span of 15 years or longer, when you see them naked does their body still evoke the same excitement as years back when you met when younger? If their physical body doesn’t do it for you as it did when you met them in college, in high school, or when you were 15 or more years younger when it comes to intimacy how or what do you do to get the libido revved up?

Seeing as I was nine 15 years ago, I can’t contribute, but I am following because I’ve wondered this myself. My husband and I will be 32 on our 15th anniversary, so that’s not quite “older age” by any means.

I’d think it’s less about raw sexual attraction based on physical appearance and more about affection and love that drives the passion in a relationship between older folks.

Cataracts don’t hurt either.~

You’ve officially turned me off of the word “boinking.” You sure do like to use that term.

As usual, you seem to come from a false premise that people are sexually attracted to their partners because of their looks. But really, if that is the only way you got your engine going, most couples couldn’t get dressed in front of each other.

Outside of the first year or two, people are attracted to their mates despite aging and wear and tear on the body. Hell, look at all those fat guys at the local pub, they’re still getting a piece, and you know their women don’t find that beer gut attractive.

I have been long turned off by the term f****** and making love: one takes love completely out of the act, and the other is a counterfeit.

Was it so hard just to say that, if that is what you meant to say? What did any of that other crap have to do with the question, just asking?

Speaking of what you mean to say, do you mean “Does your aging spouse’s naked body still attract you”?

If I had been with someone since high school, after 15 years, he or she would be 33. That is hardly old.

She’s still smokin hot to me.

My wife is nearly 60, and we have been married 29 years.
No, the sight of her naked body is not the turn on it once was, but touching it is still a thrill.

jca's avatar

Not married, never was, but I think in general, 99% of people look better with clothes on anyhow.

Yep. We’ve been married for 32 years and even in my dreams, I dream of him as he is now. Only in my dreams I am much younger. LOL

Penises generally react to known stimuli. Or at least mine does. So I would say yes.

Damn right she does! I’m getting a six-year-old woody just thinking about her.

@Hypocrisy_Central Your only options aren’t fucking, making love, and boinking. How about “having sex”? At this point, any other term would do.

Then she would hardly qualify for this question, would she, unless someone misread the question.

Then I guess we can cut out all that and just say what it is, sexual intercourse.

Thank you much for that, but I have the word I wanted and intend to use; but by all means, anyone who wants to use anything off that list as their personal preference go right ahead, even if someone disingenuous.

to all Anyone care to get back to the question, or should we have another question on which word is best used for sexual intercourse?

Misread your qustion? It is written with such clarity and understanding of English usage, command of idiom, and such perfect punctuation, that no one could. Too bad there’s no reward for circumlocution

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

^ That is why it should be easy to understand.

cookieman's avatar

Yes. In my mind, she looks just as beautiful as when I met her twenty-five years ago.

Different sure, but still hubba material.

^^ @gailcalled I was cirumlocuted when I was an infant.

(Thank goodness. That explains why I can always understand you)

I’m an anti-circumlocution activist.

gailcalled's avatar

Countercircumlocution?

YARNLADY's avatar

No, I was never attracted to him for his looks, but I worry about his shape now. He needs to eat less and exercise more. He is 80 to 100 pounds overweight.

zenvelo's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr @gailcalled @LuckyGuy Does an anti-circumlocutionist look for snipping counter clockwise instead of clockwise?

gailcalled's avatar

Depends, I guess, on whether you’re living in the northern or southern hemisphere.

^^ Or if the one performing the service is left handed.
