What kind of dog does this link recommend you should get?

Link Thanks to Cruiser for sharing it with us in another thread.

It tells me I should get a Tibetan Mastiff!

Top dog American Water Spaniel with the Pembroke Welsh Corgi being a very close second.

Both were a 99% match.

They recommended I get a Pomeranian. I have a Maltese. Close enough.

I’m surprised there were no questions about shedding and allergies.

Mine said Canaan and also recommended a Chesapeake Bay Retriever which has always been in my top 5.

I got a Schnauzer and then all terriers. Seems like Frodo and I were meant for each other.

Same as @Cruiser. The Labrador I own isn’t even a runner-up. Lots of other retrievers, though.

Am I misreading it, or is this test suggesting 45min is a long time for a dog to get walked? In an entire day?!

English Cocker Spaniel

Black Labs are a pain to raise I’ve heard. They stay pups for 4 years!

LOL Hippy Central!

And labs eat non-edible things, like metal swing sets @janbb.

It said I should have an Irish setter and close runners up were three kinds of retrievers.
I’ll keep my sweet Weimariner’s though.

@Judi Weimariner’s are in my top five…stellar dogs!

Miniature Schnauzer

Afghan Hound. 98% match. Sorry, but I’d never own this kind of dog.

Judi's avatar

@flip86, they have a really sweet temperament. I love them.

Mine actually suggested a Miniature Schnauzer, and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel following up. I never even considered a schnauzer, but I have always wanted a cavalier king Charles spaniel! I have never met one I didn’t absolutely love, I think they are awesome dogs and damn, they could not possibly be any cuter!

Judi's avatar

@laurenkem, I think they’re cute when they’re puppies but any of them I’ve ever seen got so fat when they grew up!

laurenkem's avatar

@Judi Hmm…I’ve seen a lot of fat cocker spaniels, but even though they’re similar dogs, I’ve never really seen a fat king Charles. Maybe I’ve just known people that exercise them properly? I have no clue.

But my mom once had a fat cocker spaniel. Her name was Goldie. At the same time, she also had a little white toy poodle named Tiffany. One day they had both gone to the groomer and came home smelling pretty and had little bows on their ears and their toenails had been painted – the whole nine yards. My Mom pulled up to the curb, opened the passenger door, Tiffany hopped right down and poor fat Goldie kinda rolled out the door, landing right on Tiffany. She was so much bigger that she squeezed the poop right out of poor little Tiffany, who needed to “go” after being at the groomers. Of course they both ended up covered in it while my mom was hysterical. When I picture that day, I still laugh. I don’t know who was more upset – my mother or the dogs. At least they didn’t smell like perfume anymore

Top dog: Border Collie 97% match.

@Judi I did it a second time with only a change from medium dog to large dog and came up with a German pointer 100% match. Much better choice for me.

Holy moly!

I have no pets right now, but my best friend has a dog that treats me as a 2nd master. This dog immediately leaps to the window when he hears my car door slam and he goes bananas when I step inside.

He’s a German Short-haired Pointer, which the linked poll says is a “99% match” for me!

anniereborn's avatar

I got a Sealyham Terrier, which I have never heard of before. That was a 95 percent match.
6 other dogs were 93 percent matches including Pugs, Cairn Terriers and Australian Terriers which I love.

OpryLeigh's avatar

American Cocker Spaniel (a Spaniel of any kind would be one of the last breeds I’d choose personally!)

The Polish Lowland Sheepdog was also on the list of dogs that would suit me at 95% and that is already high on my list of breeds that I would like one day.

I like the breeds with long flowing coats personally – Skye Terriers, Bearded Collies and Afghan Hounds all top my list. Luckily we have a grooming parlour on site where I work!

An English Cocker Spaniel @94% match.

Which, coincidently, is exactly the dog my dad always wanted but never got.

And one I have never considered.

BettyParker's avatar

I got a 94% match on a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. It looks nice and big (the way I like my dogs!) but I’m not familiar with this breed. I’m not sure I need to get another dog too – I already have three. But this was fun!
