Aside from the US, is there even a debate regarding evolutionary theory in the rest of the world?

Related to the Nye/Ham “debate” last week. Here in Texas I get a lopsided view of things.

I am just wondering if the topic gets much, if any, traction in your part of the world? Is it brought up in conversations? Do your churches rail against it? How about the media, any mention in there that does not directly relate to the US?

Help round out my world view.
