Where can I find information about guarenteed gas price cards?

Asked by gilgamesh (227points) July 1st, 2008

It came on my car radio that somebody is offering gas cards at 50 dollars annual membership, which will guarantee current gas prices in the future. This seems to be a hedge against future gas price rises. Any information would be greatly appreciated

The only ones I have seen (and that come up on Google) are associated with buying low mileage large vehicles.

Call the radio station. But remember, caveat emptor. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

The math doesn’t add up! Maybe with lots of limitations, like one gallon a day or something.

Instead buy stock in an energy company as log as oil goes up you’ll make money on the stock, if oil goes down you get cheaper gas.

Interesting find, kev.

I agree! If they are a stable company it could save a lot of money.
You’re just paying now for gas you’ll use later.

Of course, that means they have the use of your money during that time. Would you not be better off saving it yourself and earning interest?
