Any information on Koninginnedag on May 1 in Vienna?

Asked by owenburnett (183points) March 21st, 2014

I’m about to book a hotel in Vienna from April 29 to May 1, but I saw that Thursday, May 1 is a public holiday for Queen’s (or King’s) Day. Is this accurate? What festivities are going on? Is it worth it to stay an extra day in Vienna for this? I’ve tried searching online for more information with little luck.

According to this Austrian Tourism site, May 1st is their Labor Day.
I did not find a calendar of events, but there is this page festivals.

Thanks, @hearkat. The second link you sent is just redirecting back to this page. Can you please repost? I think Koninginnedag is a Dutch holiday actually. I think maybe they’re just celebrating it in a few Viennese bars/clubs as a theme?

Oops! Sorry about that. It’s from the same site as the Holidays link: http://www.austria.info/us/culture-art/festivals-for-all-senses-1439427.html
