Martial art: How to use your mind and body to alter your situation.

Martial science: How to make things go “boom”.

Martial arts, it would appear, is/are most definitely science(s).

You do certain things in a certain way to achieve the same result and you observe how you feel when you have done it right versus having not and then you apply the results of your tests to ongoing testing.

How much more scientific does it get?

It sounds like hype to me. Someone decided that “arts” wasn’t butch enough. What’s in a name?

@Dan_Lyons – By that application, painting is a science as well.

I’ve been thinking about this and I have to agree with you @Seek, painting is indeed a science.

Which leads me to wonder if all art is indeed also science…and conversely, is all science also art.

No no no no… just because scientific method (repeatability, as noted above) is employed in the craftman’s technique does not turn art into science. It just means that that practitioner is employing some science to get the art done, and that the artistic practice has some scientific aspects to it.

Is science art? We need a definition for art first. But I’d say that good science might enjoy artistic aspects in particular in imagining the scope of an experiment and imagining the ways to explore it.
