What are some high-quality free audio chat softwares?

Asked by maroon (166points) April 16th, 2014

Thinking of starting a podcast with a friend. The only snag? We live in different countries. Considering the audio quality of Skype is abysmal, are there any other decent alternatives out there for high-quality audio chatting/recording? Oh – and ideally it should work for both Mac and Windows…

The Facetime audio chat in OS X is high quality and you can use QuickTime to record the audio. The problem here is Windows. If the person on Windows has access to a iOS device that would work.

Maybe there is a Windows client that does facetime.
