Do you ever feel the emotions characters in books are feeling?

Almost every time I’m reading a good book, I become so emotionally invested in the characters that I almost forget that I live in the real world. As a result, when people come up to try and talk to me, I always feel super jarred. Oftentimes after binge reading, I can’t figure out if I’m the one having the emotion, or it was derived from the character.

Does this happen to anyone else?

P.S. The book that is making me feel this way right now is called “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” by Jonathan Safran Foer. I highly recommend it!
