Is it possible to wake up one day and no longer have any freckles?

Asked by cliofaye (405points) May 24th, 2014 from iPhone

I’m actually really concerned as to whether or not this is possible. What does one do if this does occur?

No. It is not possible. SInce it is not possible, one does nothing. Where did you get this notion from?

Attempting to get rid of or even lighten them for misguided cosmetic reasons, is difficult, expensive and not very successful.

Mine fade over time if I don’t spend much time in the sun, and if I apply even a thin layer of powder makeup they are invisible. But, after a few weeks at the Renaissance Festival this year I looked like a proper Trill

Have your freckles been disappearing @cliofaye ? If not leave them alone and enjoy your life with freckles. Many who don’t have freckles wish they did.
And as @Seek said, they can make you look like a Trill. (And I was always in love with Jadzia Dax)!

No. Freckles may fade over many years. I had lots of freckles as a child but now, 45 years later, they are all gone. Certainly not overnight. haha
The only thing that fades freckles is time, or cosmetic intervention.

I had a lot on the bridge of my nose when I was 12, and they were gone, or very fade, when I was 25

I read somewhere that lemon juice helps fade them.

@Dan_Lyons That will work if they were made with a Sharpie.

No. They may lighten in winter months but they will darken in the sun.

When I was a little girl I had bunches of freckles across my nose and top of my cheeks and they all dissappeared forever eventually. I don’t remember what age it happened. In my teens somewhere.

For now, if you want to lighten your freckles, just always use sunscreen when you are outside. If you have very pale skin just using sunscreen should be very successful. People with darker skin tend to have more trouble erasing brown marks, or it takes longer, just by preventing sun exposure.

It’s not the I don’t want my freckles, I do. I just want to know what would someone do if they did wake up one day and they all had disappeared over night.

@cliofaye As I child I hated my freckles, so I would have been very happy. I was happy they eventually did disappear. Now, as an adult when I see children with freckles I think they are cute, and I understand why adults used to tell me they liked my freckles. I still would not want them back now though.
