Housekeeper! Believe me. Before the wife, I’d always done my own housecleaning, and when she suggested that we have someone thoroughly clean the house every other week, I told her that it sounded both pretentious and lazy. But brothers and sisters, I was wrong, wrong, wrong. She said “let’s at least try it.” So we did, and never looked back. It was and remains the best bargain I ever had. We’ve had 3 housekeepers, and the latest one has been with us for 24years. She’s the worst of the 3 and she’s still marvelous. She bosses the wife and me around, and we’re both afraid of her. She has a particular talent for destroying vacuum cleaners and breaking stuff around the house, but she’s still a wonder for what she can achieve in 6 hours. I tell you, if you try a housekeeper and find a good one, you’ll never go back.
