Have you noticed the "Contact the Mods" button at the top of the screen?

Asked by PhiNotPi (12681points) May 31st, 2014

I simply changed the “Contact” button to “Contact the Mods” to emphasize its purpose. It is a pretty simple change.

If you have questions that you want to ask the mod team, this is 100% the way to do it, rather than PMing an individual member. The message is sent to all of the mods and an email thread is automatically created.

I’m also going to see if I can disable the “verify email” box for users who are already logged in.

Fantastic work, Phi! I also like the idea of simplifying the process for people who are logged-in.

I’m confused at how I flagged one of the OP’s comments in another post; because he uses “i” instead of “I” and this morning, I wake up and find many things modded off that q, but not his comment that I flagged with the “i.” I’m not even contacting the mods, I“m just putting that on here for discussion.

[Mod says] @jca: We are a bit more lenient for typos in comments than in questions, and always have been – since we ALL make typos and auto-correct errors. If we pulled every comment that had en error in it, the site would be half-empty. Sometimes we have to make a judgement call based on the number of errors, how it impacts the clarity of the statement, and whether it has responses to it that advance the conversation which would be disrupted by moderation.

In this particular case, several people have responded to that comment, yourself included. Sometimes with new users it is beneficial for them to get some feedback from the community to support the Private Messages being sent by the Moderation Team regarding the Guidelines and what the community finds acceptable. Please realize that a whole lot of the Moderation process goes unseen by users.

Further discussion about the spelling/typo topic is being held in this other thread: http://www.fluther.com/172423/does-fluther-no-longer-mind-when-people-use-improper-spelling-and/

It now auto-fills the username and the verify email.
