Has anyone tried Rust-oleum Deck Restore or Olympic Rescue It?

Can you tell me how you liked it? Did it last? Do you recommend it for Northeast U.S.?

I just this week used the Rustoleum Deck Restore 10X on my 20+ year-old wooden deck that was falling apart. Chunks of wood missing, splinters, etc. It was about two-years overdue for a scrape and paint and, by rights, should be replaced. The Deck Restore product did a pretty amazing job. It looks great. Probably bought me another year or two. We’ll see.

Hints:
Powerwash the deck first.
Scrub it with mildew killer.
Let it dry thoroughly.
Apply the paint with the recommended roller. It’s very thick, so go slow.
Allow ample dry time before stepping on it.

Definitely need a cool, dry stretch of weather for it.

PS: I am in the NE.

@cookieman : how cool and dry a stretch and how long? We’re coming into the muggy, T-stormy time. I can probably wait one more year, but I’ll definitely need to do this next year.
GQ, @Juliasmile, thanks for asking this!

Over 82 Amazon customers say it is a crap product.

@canidmajor: I’d wait until fall at this point.

@CWMcCall: I hope they’re wrong.

A friend of mine used it last September. It bubbled up and peeled. They scraped it off last weekend.

@CWMcCall, I saw the reviews good and bad and still can’t make up my mind. Planning on trying it anyway on a small part, maybe the railing.
@cookieman, please keep us posted, especially next summer. Sooner if you have any problems.

@Juliasmile Preparation is everyting. @cookieman appears to have done a fair amount of prepping and if you cut any corners for prep, you will join the ranks of the 1 star crowd.
