What causes your headaches?

Asked by Jonesn4burgers (7299points) July 17th, 2014

We know the standard causes, allergy, thyroid, brain anuerism, eyestrain, lack of sleep, and so many more. On a more personal, individual basis, what causes headaches for you?
One cause for me is when my whole neighborhood chooses the same day to mow their lawns, but not the same time. ACK! All day long, over there, then down there.

The weather. When it changes suddenly, I get a headache.

Or when I frown for so long, I get headache too.

Some time in the past it was also because of a blasted chicken which always cried in the middle of the night.

When I had no coffee yet. Yes, I know, I am a coffee addict :p

Mt Dew is my coffee. When I was so sick in June, I ate nothing at all for four days, drank only ice water. When I could finally struggle across a room, wow! Did that caffeine headache hit!

If you like coffee you should definitely try lavazza. It works perfect for me when I need an energy boost! I have not tried many energy drinks yet. Only red bull, monster and rockstar, but I’ll keep MtDew on mind for next time!

I never got a taste for coffee. I have had a couple of cappucinos which were okay, but nothing ever grabbed me. I like some tea blends and I have a few which can really get me going.

I never get headaches, usually. I can channel my thoughts to drive them away. Until I got a nasty concussion a little over a year ago. Six months of constant headaches. I was thinking of doing something bad to get rid of them.

The neighbor pruning trees. Since the beginning of Summer he’s been at it, and his equipment is so loud. PHSWAAAAAZZK all day long…Once a week there’s a mountain of branches waiting to be picked up by the garbage guys. Worse is, I can’t even tell what trees he’s working on. Like there’s some hidden forest he’s destroying…
But yeah, it’s constant, and the noise just comes right in my living room and bedroom, and it’s aggravating.

I never get regular tension headaches, mine are all sinus related, many things set me off. Dust, mold, barometric pressure, dry weather, wind and pollution, It sucks, I never had issues until my 40’s. The bane of my existence. Bah!

I think it is immune related as well, as we age our immune systems don’t function as well.
I start my days with sinus rinses and a frozen washcloth over my face. lol

weather changes, change in altitude (I travel a lot), jet lag, lack of sleep, stress, staring at a computer screen all day without wearing my glasses.

Cigarette smoke, strong perfume and bright lights.

Bright lights give me migraines with aura. It’s something I deal with weekly. It’s not fun

Jonesn4burgers's avatar

Wow, migraines are just awful! I used to get them when I was a teen. They stopped before I joined the Navy. Good riddance! I am sorry you are suffering so.

@Jonesn4burgers I get more vision problems than pain. I don’t know if that’s a blessing or a curse.
