When does a player slide in lacrosse, and where does he slide to?

This is my first year playing lacrosse, and I practice constantly everyday. I started using the long pole at the end of the season and then I learned about slides. I just want to know exactly what player slides to what position and when. I am not just looking for the slides made by the long poles. But for every position in any scenario.
