Can you supply me with some cool scenes?

Asked by Kardamom (33284points) September 7th, 2014

It’s sweltering here and I have no air conditioning. Would you please link me to some winter scenes, or snow scenes or cooling lake views. Whatever you think would be helpful, visually, for me to mentally cool off.

Thanks : )

First week in July, I go swimming in Mirror Lake in Lake Placid. I later looked, the water temperature is between 62 and 64 degrees F. I was hung like a small baby. Think of the shrinkage. :) I have a bunch more if you want them :) That’s Mirror Lake in my avatar.

Here’s a pic of Jon shoveling our driveway a few winters ago. http://i.imgur.com/vz5SDb.jpg

@jonsblond Oh god, been there, done that. @Kardamom I want your heat. Not the snow.

I took the garbage down tonight, just to make tomorrow easier. 51 degrees F.

Rent or buy the DVD of Frozen, Disney’s latest animated movie.

The beautiful artwork is just incredible; totally immersive in cold.

They just showed a special on how it was made a few nights ago and the lengths they went to for accuracy is pretty incredible. The entire animation team went to Norway for several weeks, played in the snow, studied Rosmaling patterns.

Also, there are some free online games based upon the movie and it’s characters. There are Apps for both IOS and Android which are beautifully done with a chilly atmosphere.

But if I remember correctly from one of your posts, you’re not a big fan of smartphones so you can also try here:

Happy winter playing.

And if you want briefer, there’s a lot of really nice YouTube clips with excerpts from the movie.

There are lots posted directly by Walt Disney Animation.

@Adirondackwannabe No you don’t. It’s been hot and humid here for the last 2 years straight with no let up. It was in the 90’s over Christmas. We’ve gotten only 3 days of very short bursts of rain in those 2 years. Right now it’s about 85 degrees and super humid, at 9: 30 p.m., but for the last 3 weeks it’s been in the high 80’s and high 90’s and very humid. We’ve got no air conditioning. We’re on mandatory water rationing due to the drought. On top of that, I’ve got hot flashes, so I’m always about 10 degrees hotter than everyone else. I’d just be happy with something in the high 70’s and some decent rainfall.

Addy if you come and stand next to me, I’ll radiate all the heat you want LOL.

@Kardamom Come with me to that lake, it hasn’t warmed up a lot. We’ll go swimming and you can hang on to me and try to warm me up out by the dock. :)

I don’t know the humidity where you are, but when I had no air conditioning, I’d take a quart squirt bottle of ice water in the car with me along with a wet beach towel. I’d alternate between spraying myself with ice water and draping the wet beach towel on different parts of me while I drove with the windows open.

You might be able to duplicate this feeling at home in front of a large fan.

Drinking cold water is an immediate, energy-efficient way of cooling myself off. You could also try bringing some ice water with you.
