Anyone heard of slight sciatica only at night that wakes you up?

Asked by Aster (20023points) September 21st, 2014

For the past few weeks I’ve been awakened by a slight pain all down each leg that wakes me up even if I’ve taken two Aleve at bedtime. I just know it’s sciatica; never felt anything like it. But during the day I’m fine. Ever heard of this? Or is there “no such animal” as slight sciatica?

Sleeping with sciatica

“Sciatica symptoms are known for their incredible diversity and every patient seems to have their(sic) own individual symptomatic profile.”

I know of what you speak. I think the problem—and I’m no doctor, just a sufferer—is simply the result of sleeping, at least part of the night, in a bad position. If you’re a tosser-and-turner like me, it’s easy for that to happen. You might consider sleeping with a body pillow, which tends to keep you settled in a more-or-less constant position (I can’t sleep without mine anymore). Also, a new pillow and/or mattress may be in the cards.

Good luck.
