Why would someone wear dark sunglasses in a dimly lit bar?

I was recently in a bar/grill at the behest of a friend of mine. I had not been in such a place in ages. There was good food, a band, and a couple of people dancing. Things were very upbeat and nice even though it was poorly lit and a little too dark to read the menu. At the bar there was a guy wearing dark sunglasses.
Why? Maybe it’s the way my mind works but I could only come up with negative reasons: hiding bloodshot eyes, hoping to not be recognized, trying to look like a rock star on stage, etc.
Why would anyone wear dark sunglasses in a dark bar? Do you?

Well, they could have some eye problems, for one. Or could have had their pupils dilated for another. Or they could be blind. Or they could just be trying to be “cool.”

Eye problems. I don’t frequent bars, but I have needed to use sunglasses in my house on a dark cloudy day due to an ocular migraine.

My ex bf did stuff like that to check out other women. That way I couldn’t see what direction his eyes were looking. I so busted him on it a few times. Jerk. I started telling him I thought he was checking out guys, and that pissed him off!

Believe it or not, the discos have lots of laser and spot lights flashing around.

Not good when they strike your eyes in a flash.

After reading all the responses above: that included: trying too look cool, drugs, illness, high, etc. I have to wonder: Why would a woman leave with this guy? (I don’t know if anyone did.)

Because he wears prescription glasses and only has his sunglasses with him at the moment. I very occasionally wear my sunglasses inside places when I mix up my coat or bag and leave my regular glasses in the other bag/coat or at home. It freaks people out.
